River Island is a London-headquartered high street fashion brand, which operates in a number of worldwide markets. Set up in 1948, by Bernard Lewis and his brothers in London. The introduction of Kidswear into the stores meant that the brand became even more popular. The following year, the name Chelsea Girl came back into River Island stores as a feature brand within the shops.
