  • Manolo Blahnik

Manolo Blahnik Brand History and Origin

Born in the Canary Islands, Spain, Manuel Blahnik majored in Literature and Architecture from the University of Geneva. An accidental shoemaker, Manolo Blahnik was in Paris studying art and set design when Diana Vreeland, then editor-in-chief of American Vogue, loved his sketches for “A Midsummer Night's Dream,” and advised him to design shoes. It inspired the birth of an iconic footwear brand.

Since he wasn't trained in shoemaking, Manolo learnt the craft by visiting Italian shoe factories and quizzing artisans. All of the production phases in the making of his artisanal shoes were manual, and consequently, the number of pairs handcrafted each day were limited and unique. When mainstream shoe styles were still dominated by clunky platforms in the 1970s, he revived the sleek stiletto heel, which has since become a classic. Also, he dislikes wedges and believes in the power of heels and the sex appeal they convey.

Manolo Blahnik's shoes became more popular than ever in the early twenty-first century. They appealed to an increasingly broad audience, in part because of their star billing on the television show Sex and the City.

Manolo Blahnik Shoes Prices: $645 - $1695

Manolo Blahnik Shoes Design & Style

Manolo Blahnik was a designer and manufacturer of what were called "the sexiest shoes in the world"-beautiful, expensive, and highly coveted by many of the world's most fashionable women.

Manolo Blahnik has carved out one of the most valuable attributes any fashion label could hope to possess: a set of easily-identifiable brand codes. No matter how trends change when it comes to heel heights, or toe shape, or embellishment, his shoes are always classic at the core. Mr. Blahnik likes lightness, which is why he has skipped out on the sneaker trend that has overtaken the industry in the past few years.

Manolo's designer shoes for women come in all shapes and forms. You can get tangled up in dazzling strappy sandals, treat your feet to sleek ankle boots, combine comfort and style by opting for a sumptuous satin flat or shop the latest selection of designer wedding shoes. The most popular Manolo Blahnik shoes for women are Manolo Blahnik Hangisi, Manolo Blahnik BB, Lurum, Nadira and Chaos.

Manolo Blahnik Shoes Quality - Material & Durability

The handmade, artisan quality is one of the reasons why they're so popular - the other being their renowned comfort and wearability, with varying heel heights to choose from. Although designed in New York, they are manufactured in a factory in Parabiago in Italy where as much as 50% of the production is done, this is the reason why they only produce 80 pairs a day.

Manolo Blahnik always uses Italian leather to make their shoes, which includes the sole and the inner lining. Defined by satin finishes, jewel tones and crystal embellishment, Manolo Blahniks represent sophistication and craftsmanship. Aside from a wide variety of designs, the brand also offers a range of colors to pick and choose from. That makes it ideal for creating a touch of elegance, poise, and sophistication you had in mind for your big day

Christian Louboutin Shoes Design & Style

Christian Louboutin is known the world over as an artist and craftsman with a true passion for shoes. From a flash of red sole to a bold red nail, nothing says Christian Louboutin more than red. The signature Christian Louboutin red sole was born from a chance encounter with a stroke of red nail color. Red is more than a colour. It is a symbol of love, of blood, of passion.

The designer believes that his shoes have the ability to "make a woman look sexy, beautiful, to make her legs look as long as [he] can." Louboutin helped bring stilettos back into fashion – his spiked heels started from 4.72 inches upwards!

Louboutin doesn't like to be pinned down on whether his shoes are overtly fetishistic.“The studs on my shoes aren't about fetishism, they reference punk style.” That said, he seems to place more emphasis these days on sexiness.“My earliest designs were more dressed-up, embellished. Now I tend to go for simpler, more bare designs, ones that emphasise the shape of the leg. I've gone from dressy to undressed" , he said.

Christian Louboutin Shoes Quality - Material & Durability

Christian Louboutin Heels are handmade in Italy and are extremely high quality.  From the leather to the stitching, the placement of the embellishments - everything should be perfect. Every pair begins with a sketch. Louboutin likes to conceive summer collections in warm locations, and winter collections in cold ones. Once the sketches are complete, they are sent to the Louboutin factory outside Milan. A team of artisans works many hours to translate Louboutin’s pen-and-paper fantasies into three dimensions. Three weeks later, a set of prototypes will arrive at Rue Jean-Jacques Rousseau-a sort of Santa's workshop he opens for his private clients.

There's a high standard of craftsmanship, quality and attention to detail that comes with the name Louboutin. Beyond adornment, what draws the eye to the Louboutin foot is its silhouette. They have an elegant and sleek silhouette. Consequently, they won't look clunky, and the joins should flow.

  •  Gucci

Gucci Brand History and Origin

Gucci is an Italian fashion label founded in 1921 by Guccio Gucci, making it one of the oldest Italian fashion brands in operation today. Like many historic fashion houses, the brand started out as a luggage manufacturer, producing luxury travel goods for Italy's wealthy upper-classes, as well as equestrian equipment.

In 1953 Gucci created a loafer entirely inspired by the equestrian lifestyle so beloved of its founder Aldo Gucci. The result was the iconic Horsebit shoe we know today: A simple leather loafer embellished with a metal horsebit. It's both classic and contemporary and is an essential shoe for women and men all over the globe. It's an iconic shoe, and in fact it's the only shoe that is part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and it has been so since 1985.

Gucci Shoes Prices: $750- $830

Gucci Shoes Design & Style

Gucci Horsebit is a shoe that has the character of Italian style. Because they've been so popular over the years, there are many iterations and models, some are slippers with a soft heel, some are slide sandal or mid-heel slingback, you can find them with different logos, but the original one has the classic horsebit and no logos that are visible.

Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini debuted the 1953 Horsebit Anniversary collection with a wide selection of new materials, colors, textures, and hardware finishes. In terms of the overall appearance, Gucci  loafers have a slimline silhouette and gently rounded toes. They are decorated with the iconic Horsebit detail. By virtue of not being excessively shiny or bright, the gold-tone metal is reasonably low-key and tasteful, and yet visible. Gucci Horsebit shoes are available in both men's and women's styles.

Gucci Shoes Quality - Material & Durability

Gucci Horsebit shoes are designed to be worn with the heel folded down as a slipper or up as a loafer. It is made from incredibly soft and supple leather, so it quickly adjusts to the shape of the foot for a bespoke fit.

The moccasin top was sewn by hand, because of  the different stitch density on the side and in the front. You could also see little puckering along the edges. And the sole construction of the shoe is sewn and not glued which is typical a hallmark of handwork.

Their painstaking craftsmanship and timelessness are such that Gucci loafers can last for decades if properly looked after. The more you wear them, the better they look, as the leather develops a patina, and the more comfortable they become as they mould to your feet. They will never gone out of fashion makes them very efficient and longlasting in  your wardrobe. Thus they're an economically savvy investment. Besides, you can always return your shoes to Gucci for repair, and they take them back as long as you don't bring them to local cobblers in-between.

  • Conclusion

Jimmy Choo vs. Manolo Blahnik vs. Christian Louboutin vs. Gucci Shoes: which brand is the best?

Jimmy Choo

Jimmy Choo is one of the biggest names in the world of luxury footwear, breaking boundaries and redefining our idea of understated but glamorous stilettos. Jimmy Choo's attitude to comfortable shoes seems unequivocal. It's similar to Louboutins, other styles provide more comfort than Christian Louboutins Pencil thin heels. It's much more feminine and fashional to wear than a lot of Manolo's.

Manolo Blahnik

Throughout the years, Blahnik has experimented with the architecture of the shoe, from literally altering the traditional structure - he was the first to try a heel-less shoe. His most classic style is the pencil thin stiletto heel, making a woman feel aesthetically light and lengthy.

Manolo told that comfort was of paramount importance.” Manolo Blahniks is more comfortable than Louboutins and provide more styles than Jimmy Choo.  You can shop the cult classic 'Hangisi' and 'Maysale' styles for your daily wear.

Christian Louboutin

Christian Louboutin isn't known for comfortable shoes, rather, wearable art. Christian Louboutin shoes should be considered as“Pure Art”.  A classic Louboutin has a heel height of 10 to 12 centimeters. They're shorter from toe to heel, higher in the arch, and tighter across the width of the foot, than those of most designers. So it's not a surprise that they ranked least comfortable out of the four. Christian Louboutin heels are engaging, flirtatious, memorable, and the color of passion. If you want a“wow” factor, buy the Louboutins.

Gucci

Gucci's style is different from the other three brands. The Gucci Horsebit loafer is one of the fashion pack's favourite shoes. While it is reinvented almost every season, your best bet for investment would be to stick with the classic. If you want a pair of versatile shoes that will add a dash of carefree glamour to a off-duty outfit and wear comfortble, the Gucci shoes will do the job perfectly. It is very practical and cost-effective!
