Aerie also promised not too do any airbrushing as a message that“imperfections”should be celebrated, not covered up.

Aerie's models and ads are consistently more diverse than Victoria's Secret. Even at a quick glance, it's evident that Aerie has a wider variety of models, ranging from curvy women to women in wheelchairs.  Aerie's intimates line is just for the ladies. Shop neutrals and fun patterns in whatever style you prefer: boxers, boxer briefs, briefs, or swundies, quick-drying briefs designed to be worn underneath board shorts. From nude to stripes to pretty, pretty lace there are plenty of ways feel good! Aerie sells lingerie products and markets to young consumers 15 to 25

Aerie Quality

What's great about Aerie is that while they definitely have products that are“sexy,” they don't make a brand on this idea. While Aerie is not a perfect brand, they have proven that people want inclusivity. They make a brand on the idea that they want their customers to feel good, not just look good.

Some athletic clothing - such as leggings and sports bras - were form - fitting, but they were also made out of thick, stretchy material. It was clear that Aerie's line of workout clothes was made with two things in mind: movement and comfort

  • American Eagle

American Eagle Brand History and Origin

American Eagle Outfitters (AEO) also known as American Eagle, is an American lifestyle, clothing, and accessories retailer. It was founded in Pennsylvania by two brothers, Jerry and Mark Silverman in 1977. They offer trendier men's and women's clothing at relatively affordable prices. They cater to the teen to young adult (15-25) demographic, although their actual market extends somewhat beyond this range.

American Eagle is known for their Flex Design, an innovative idea that increases the amount of stretch in jeans. Clint Groom, a graduate of the Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science was that creator of Flex Design. Presently he oversees the design of men's denim, pants and shorts. As of 2021, American Eagle operates over 700 stores in the United States and Canada.

Known for their t-shirts and hoodies but built upon the quality and heritage of denim, theyseek to be a consistent presence throughout young men's & women's lifestyles. Casual comfort and a relaxed attitude have made AEO the brand it is today.

American Eagle is one of the best denim brands for women with curves. Made with a little extra room in the thighs and hips and contoured waistbands, these jeans are designed to fit in all the right places.

American Eagle Quality

American Eagle is a one-stop platform for fashionable young people to provide affordable and popular jeans and casual wear. AE jeans are comfortable, it looks 'new' ish even after several wash. Starting with the basics,  American Eagle also have tank tops and t-shirts made with soft fabrics and comfy fits like oversized, cropped, and classic.

Denim made in factories that meet expectations for American Eagle's Water Leadership Program, using recycled and sustainably sourced cotton, and recycled polyester. But in the final analysis, American Eagle follows the fast fashion model and advocates quantity over quality, which is inherently unsustainable, meaning it rates “Not Good Enough” overall.

  • Victoria's Secret

Victoria's Secret Brand History and Origin

Victoria's Secret was founded in 1977 by American businessman Roy Raymond. He wanted to create a women's underwear shop that was targeted at men. He named the brand after the Victorian era in England, wanting to evoke the refinement of this period in his lingerie.

Now, it is an American lingerie, clothing, and beauty retailer known for high visibility marketing and branding, starting with a popular catalog and followed by an annual fashion show with supermodels dubbed Angels. As of May 2020, with over 1,070 stores, Victoria's Secret remained the largest lingerie retailer in the United States.

Victoria's Secret Price: bras:$20-$69.95; panties:$10.5-$30; lingerie: $19.95-$495; Sleepwear: $14.95-$185; Swimsuits: $9.98-$160; Loungewear:$35-$129.95.

Victoria's Secret Design & Style

We might as well accept where Victoria’s Secret sits in the lingerie landscape:  the expensive mall brand that presents a particular vision of sexiness and idealized beauty. It seemed to cater to a smaller range of body types. The brand wants its customers to feel sexy, and there's nothing wrong with that: Women should have the option to purchase fancy lingerie and look like Victoria's Secret models if they so choose.

However, the brand has struggled since 2016 due to shifting consumer preferences and ongoing controversy surrounding corporate leadership's business practices. In that time, the value of the brand eroded and a slew of competitors grew in part by positioning themselves as the anti-Victoria's Secret, complete with more typical women's bodies and a focus on inclusivity and diversity.

Now they seem to have made some changes too, we can see their trending bra styles online site - band sizes from 30-46, cup sizes from AA-O. Victoria's Secret is also leaning into gym wear in a move to compete with the likes of Lululemon and American Eagle.

Victoria's Secret Quality

Consumers satisfied with Victoria's Secret most frequently mention good customer service, good quality. Its quality is worth the price.

They've always been the world's leading expert in bra fit, and their proven Bra Fit Quiz allows you to find your best size from the comfort of home. Thanks to Netvirta's new 3D-scanning technology, your perfect bra is just a few clicks away.

  • Lululemon

Lululemon Brand History and Origin

Lululemon Athletica is an American-Canadian multinational athletic apparel retailer domiciled in Delaware and headquartered in Vancouver. It was founded in 1998 as a retailer of technical yoga pants and other active wear for yoga, running, training and most other sweaty pursuits, and has expanded to also sell athletic wear, lifestyle apparel, accessories, and personal care products.

Over the last two decades, the brand has grown into a global phenomenon. Wilson took the company public in 2005. The company generated more than $2.6 billion in revenue in 2017 and now has more than 400 stores around the world.

Lululemon Price: Women's Leggings: $29-$198; Women's Joggers: $49 -$248;   Men's Joggers: $59-$248;  Shorts: $19-$128;  Sports Bras: $29-$108; Shirts: $19-$198; Pants: $29-$398; Coats & jackets: $49-$1200.

Lululemon Design & Style

Lululemon has designed products with the goal to advance a movement, stand out from the competition and help brands build consumer loyalty. Lululemon specializes in laser-focused performance wear. The brand's high-quality yoga pants became a cult item. Many women found them so comfortable that they wore the pants or sport bras out of the yoga studio and into everyday life.

Each product has an express purpose: Some leggings are designed specifically for running while others are designed specifically for yoga, for example. The product description of each item tells you what it's made for and how that specific product will improve your performance at that activity. This niched-down emphasis is likely what drives the brand's popularity. The bright colors, flattering fits and durable fabrics help, too.

Lululemon Quality

Lululemon's clothing is crafted to empower people to be comfortable while moving their bodies in yoga and while doing fitness training. The company looked at research data in fitness apparel and found out that buyers expect two things from their gym gear and outfits: Performance - outfits that hold up during strenuous exercises. Comfort and Style - apparel that feels and looks great.

To achieve activewear of excellent performance, comfort, style, Lululemon put together a team of experts. The team is spearheading the brand's research and development of sustainable and innovative materials, from the brand's HQ's in Vancouver, Canada. Lululemon has earned a reputation as the go-to yoga pant that many people swear by. Further, innovative product launches such as the Nulu fabric, which is designed to give the feeling of freedom of being naked, help the brands customers live their best yoga everywhere they go.

  • Conclusion

Aerie vs. American Eagle vs. Victoria's Secret vs. Lululemon: which brand  is the best?

Aerie

American Eagle markets Aerie primarily to young women aged 15 to 25. This strategy fits Aerie's broad customer base of high school and college-aged consumers. Aerie’s intimates line is just for the ladies. Another way the brand has masterfully crafted itself as a “for women” brand is through the women they select to represent them. While Aerie is not a perfect brand, they have proven that people want inclusivity.  Their products emphasize comfort and function which are the main concerns when shopping for a new bra or bikini.

American Eagle

American Eagle focuses on every day wear. They are widely considered utilitarian active-outdoor street wear, or just casual street wear aimed toward the 18–30 yo demographic. American Eagle follows the fast fashion model and advocates quantity over quality. If you're after an everyday pair of jeans for casual use, American Eagle's jeans are very comfortable and affordable,  making them ideal for regular workwear and active pursuits.

Victoria's Secret

Victoria's Secret focuses more on making sultry lingerie. They convinced consumers that their brand was the epitome of femininity, through complicated lacey lingerie and supermodels in angel wings.

Victoria's Secret has traditionally catered to an older demographic but is now also targeting younger customers through its PINK line of lingerie for college-age women. But in recent years, its hold on the market has been in a steep decline.

Lululemon

Lululemon clothes are designed to hold up during yoga and other low-impact forms of exercise (such as walking and cycling), but you may want to choose something more durable for high-intensity workouts. Lululemon would be the perfect fit if you want to invest in durable clothing that will stand up to uber-sweaty, high-impact workouts and if you’d rather have good quality material regardless of cost.
