1. Alo

Alo Brand History and Origin

Alo began in Los Angeles in 2007. Founded by Harris and Marco DeGeorge, Alo Yoga is owned by Color Image Inc., whose multibrand portfolio includes Bella Luxx. Headquartered in the Los Angeles area, Alo Yoga has approximately 800 employees.

The founders wanted to spread good by bringing yoga to the world: to anyone who is experiencing the transformative power of yoga, to the world's best yogis who wear Alo because it's the only line that actually elevates their practice, to the celebrities and the fashion-forward who wear Alo because it's the perfect street brand, comfortable, contemporary and decidedly not just for the mat. Alo Yoga largely caters to Millennials and counts supermodels Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner among its fans.

Capturing what's trending in contemporary fashion with both the women's and men's collections is how Alo and mindful movement can travel beyond the studio. Luxury meets performance in every collection. Celebrities are photographed wearing Alo all the time for a reason: because it's their daily go-to. They are always trend forward so Alo wears great everywhere.

Alo Quality

Alo Yoga is known for super soft fabrics and flattering fits, particularly high-waisted shorts and leggings. Alo Yoga leggings cost similar pricing to that of Lululemon. However, it's worth understanding that these are a high-end, long-lasting product. They are comfortable, flattering and will stand the test of time. In general, Alo followers love the brand for the wide range of comfy styles, but this brand may not be the best fit for people wanting thicker, more durable workout clothes for high-intensity training sessions.

2. Lululemon

Lululemon Brand History and Origin

Lululemon Athletica is an American-Canadian multinational athletic apparel retailer domiciled in Delaware and headquartered in Vancouver. It was founded in 1998 as a retailer of technical yoga pants and other active wear for yoga, running, training and most other sweaty pursuits, and has expanded to also sell athletic wear, lifestyle apparel, accessories, and personal care products.

Over the last two decades, the brand has grown into a global phenomenon. Wilson took the company public in 2005. The company generated more than $2.6 billion in revenue in 2017 and now has more than 400 stores around the world.

Lululemon Design & Style

Lululemon has designed products with the goal to advance a movement, stand out from the competition and help brands build consumer loyalty. Lululemon specializes in laser-focused performance wear. The brand's high-quality yoga pants became a cult item. Many women found them so comfortable that they wore the pants out of the yoga studio and into everyday life.

Each product has an express purpose: Some leggings are designed specifically for running while others are designed specifically for yoga, for example. The product description of each item tells you what it's made for and how that specific product will improve your performance at that activity. This niched-down emphasis is likely what drives the brand's popularity. The bright colors, flattering fits and durable fabrics help, too.

Lululemon Quality

Lululemon's clothing is crafted to empower people to be comfortable while moving their bodies in yoga and while doing fitness training. The company looked at research data in fitness apparel and found out that buyers expect two things from their gym gear and outfits: Performance - outfits that hold up during strenuous exercises. Comfort and Style - apparel that feels and looks great.

To achieve activewear of excellent performance, comfort, style, Lululemon put together a team of experts. The team is spearheading the brand's research and development of sustainable and innovative materials, from the brand's HQ's in Vancouver, Canada. Lululemon has earned a reputation as the go-to yoga pant that many people swear by. Further, innovative product launches such as the Nulu fabric, which is designed to give the feeling of freedom of being naked, help the brands customers live their best yoga everywhere they go.

Athleta Design & Style

Athleta is a brand of women's activewear. They make clothing that women are comfortable to be active in through both the fit and style of the garments as well as their empowering message:The Power of She.”

Athleta, on the other hand, makes activewear that is developed for women by choosing cuts, patterns, and materials that women prefer. These properly design garments help women to comfortably participate in an active lifestyle making Athleta a lifestyle brand. Classically, they have taken men's apparel, shrunk it and maybe changed the color, a practice the clothing industry calls“shrink it and pink it.” Women who wanted to have an active lifestyle often felt constrained by the fit and style of garments from traditional activewear companies like Adidas and Nike. Women felt that the styles were masculine, and the cuts were uncomfortable and unflattering.

4. Fabletics

Fabletics Brand History and Origin

Fabletics was founded in 2013 by Adam Goldenberg and Don Ressler, who partnered with Ms. Hudson and feature her prominently in its advertisements. It aims to fill a gap in the market between high-end brands such as Lululemon and the cheapest brands. Driven by its innovative VIP membership program serving over 2 million loyal members, Fabletics has evolved activewear beyond the gym into every walk of life.

Fabletics is a global, active-lifestyle brand that sells both men's and women's sportswear, footwear and accessories, commonly referred to as "activewear".  The company operates on a membership model and is known for its e-commerce business approach and also has over 70 brick-and-mortar stores.

You'll also be able to find various finishes, from soft-touch to shimmery, across each site's collections. The Fabletics range of compression sportswear, and the sheer amount of choice within it, is popular with influencers and trendsetters. These are definitely better than basic chain store leggings. New women's styles drop every week in sizes XXS-4X, and men's styles drop every month in sizes XS-XXL.

Fabletics Quality

Fabletics are a little bit more of “fast-fashion”, but still durable. Fabletics definitely has some high quality fabrics and attention to detail in their yogawear. But overall, some of the styles from Fabletics rival some of what we've found at Lululemon, but the quality isn't quite as high. Fabletics quality is more like Gap Body. Also, Fabletics merch comes in a wide variety of sizes to fit all body shapes!

Their Powerhold and Motion 365 leggings are the highest quality; they always stay up, have a flattering fit, and are perfectly stretchy. With the VIP membership, Fabletics yoga wear is a budget deal for really high quality.

  • Conclusion

Alo vs. Lululemon vs. Athleta vs. Fabletics: which brand is the best?

Alo

Alo Yoga specializes in yoga clothes, although I've seen people do other types of workouts in Alo Yoga leggings and tops.In general, Alo followers love the brand for the wide range of comfy styles. The clothes are designed to hold up during yoga and other low-impact forms of exercise (such as walking and cycling), but this brand may not be the best fit for people wanting thicker, more durable workout clothes for high-intensity training sessions.

Lululemon

The clothes are designed to hold up during yoga and other low-impact forms of exercise (such as walking and cycling), but you may want to choose something more durable for high-intensity workouts. Because Alo Yoga and Lululemon are both expensive. If you want to invest in durable clothing that will stand up to uber-sweaty, high-impact workouts, go with Lululemon.

Athleta

Athleta offers the standard athletic gear a woman needs such as pants, shorts, and leggings, tanks, tees, and hoodies. Athleta also offers street-inspired clothing like dresses and rompers, swimsuits, and accessories such as shoes, bags, socks, headwear, and workout gear like water bottles and yoga mats. What's great about Athleta is its female empowerment mission. They are inclusive of all body types and sizes, not only in the products themselves but also in their models and online content.

Fabletics

Fabletics offers comfortable, and confidence-boosting clothing for all sporting occasions, with plenty of choices for everyday athleisure styles. If you're after athletic clothing that will make your body look incredible, and your Insta feed even better, you'll probably find that easier and for less with Fabletics. Lululemon has less in the way of plus-size ranges, which means Fabletics is better for those seeking a fit that suits them
