  • Bobbi Brown Skin Long-Wear Weightless Foundation review

Skin Type: Normal, or Normal to Oily Skin

Coverage: Medium

Finish: Natural Semi-matte

Formulation: Liquid

SPF: 15

Weight: 1 oz./30 ml

Official Price: $50

Bobbi Brown Skin Long-Wear Weightless Foundation is a long-wearing foundation with a buildable oil-free, non-acnegenic formula that delivers broad-spectrum UV protection, and a hydrated glow for a natural finish.

Created through a high speed cold fusion process, this ultra-silky foundation features a perfectly balanced blend of skin-loving ingredients, oil controlling actives, and skin-true pigments - with 16-hour wear. This formula with marine sugar cane algae extract and natural mineral powders helps control excess oil and shine. Meanwhile, moisture-binding glycerin delivers refreshing hydration. Skin feels balanced and comfortable - never tight.

The texture of the foundation is quite creamy. With the word "weightless", I kind of expected the texture to be more watery. However, despite being creamy, it doesn't seem to feel heavy or cakey on the skin. It sets well and looked like skin instead of looking like a layer of foundation. The coverage it gives is somewhere between medium and full. A lot depends on your tool of choice,  but even with a second layer - I don't seem to get full coverage.

The finish it gives is semi-matte, not the dry unnatural appearance certain matte foundations tend to give. Another major plus is the shade range, the 41 shades have bang-on warm, cool and neutral undertones and look very natural once you've found your particular shade.

After a full day of wear - about 10 hours - the foundation looks more shiny than it did at the 6-hour mark, but it still hold on pretty well. It did not get patchy or muddy. I think with 1-2 touch-ups, it could well live up to the 16-hour claim.

  • Estee Lauder Double Wear review

Skin Type: Combination and Oily

Coverage: Medium-to-full

Finish: Matte

Formulation:   Liquid

SPF: 10

Weight: 1 oz./30 ml

Official Price:  $43

Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place  Foundation is a 24-hour long lasting liquid foundation that has a flawless, natural, and matte makeup that can make uneven skin tones and cover imperfections with buildable coverage. It can be mixed with serums and other foundations to create different finishes. It's the winner of the Allure Best of Beauty award. Since the Double Wear maximum cover foundation is a lightweight and oil-free formula, it won't clog pores or cause breakouts, and works so well for oily, sensitive, and acne prone skin.

It is full coverage and does not look cakey with less texture on skin. It's extremely blendable but dries quickly so you need to work fast because when it sets it sets. It feels lightweight on the skin and leaves your skin looking natural and glowy. Another noticeable thing about the wear of the Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation is that it doesn't oxidize on the skin, like many foundations do. This means that the shade you put on in the morning, doesn't change and turn too orange in the middle of the day. Transfer resistant, it doesn't come off on your clothes. It can be used in hot and humid weather and feels light and comfortable. Double Wear has 56 shades to choose from, including cool, neutral and warm tones to suit all skin tones. They use the letters C, N, and W to identify which undertones each shade is suited for.

In a word,  Estée Lauder Double Wear is the most long-wearing foundation, and it lasts more than 12 hours. It's the type of foundation that it seems great the longer you have it on. After a whole day of work, the color will start to appear a little yellowish. There's no need to mix foundation shades either as the shade range is so inclusive.

  • Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Ultra-Longwear Foundation review

Skin Type:  Normal, Combination, and Oily

Coverage: Medium to Full

Finish: Matte

Formulation: Liquid

SPF: 0

Weight: 1 oz./30 ml

Official Price: $48

Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Ultra-Longwear Foundation is an oil-free,  sweat, humidity, water, transfer-resistant, liquid foundation with up to 15 hours of long-wear, a matte finish, and weightless, medium to full coverage. The colour stays true all day and won't oxidize. Non-comedogenic. Dermatologist-tested.

Coated pigments glide on to create buildable medium to full colour that beautifully evens out skin tone and minimizes the look of pores and imperfections. Skin-fusion technology provides ultimate longwear with comfortable, breathable ease. This Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Ultra-Longwearing foundation applies best on skin with a foundation brush. Fingers left it looking more streaky, while a brush blends it in better.

It's fairly weightless on my skin,  and fits and feels like a second skin that looks very natural. It isn't heavy,  and it blends easily. In terms of coverage, the redness and most skin imperfections can be covered, and skintone is evened out quite noticeably. The finish is supposed to be matte, although to oliy skin, I'd say it's semi-matte. It lasts as well as the famous Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation, and the Flawless Fusion looks way more natural and less mask-like at the begining.  It's available in about 20 shades I believe the color is not so rich.

  • Conclusion

Bobbi Brown vs. Estee Lauder vs. Laura Mercier Foundation: which brand is best for you?

Bobbi Brown Skin Long-Wear Weightless Foundation

Bobbi Brown Skin Long-Wear Weightless Foundation is best for those with combination to moderately oily skin who need more coverage and longevity than dewy bases deliver, but not a full camouflage effect. It is a great coverage, but it does require a fair bit bit of product as its spreadability isn't amazing.  It's a higher end foundation, so it's expensive .

Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation

Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Foundation is one of those foundations that has sat at the top of bestseller lists all over the world for years. Estee Lauder double wear foundation gives a soft matte finish. It gives a soft focus look and does not move once it sets. It's renowned for the way it controls oil production and reduces shiny skin. It's a little sticky and heavy at the begining, but It feels light and comfortable on your face as time goes on. But the fomular is a little dry which works well on oily skin.

Laura Mercier Flawless Lumière Foundation Luminous Foundation

Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion foundation is one you might want to pick if you have to wear your makeup for long hours, want something oil-free and matte, with medium coverage, and needs to photograph well, or looks good under dim lighting. If a very matte look is what you go for, then this will be the one you should pick. The formula is oil-free, and is not too moisturizing. So I would not recommend this for super dry skin, and I think it would be great for normal to oily skin or anyone with large pores.
