The design may fill you with hope, but unfortunately it just doesn’t perform as well as others when it comes to filtering the air, as you will see in our Dyson Pure Cool TP01 review. That’s why it didn’t make the cut as one of the best air purifiers.

Dyson TP02 Review

What is Dyson TP02?

The Dyson Pure Cool Link TP02 has been on the market for quite some time now. This was Dyson’s first air purifier (released in May 2016), but it continues to rank among its best offerings to date.

Besides its sleek and modern aesthetics, the other thing that makes it so popular is its dual fan and purifier functions. Precisely, this is "a fan that circulates clean air."

That and the Glass HEPA filter, which they say removes 99.97% of allergens and pollutants as small as .3 microns. It should be effective at reducing harmful stuff in the air that could or would otherwise be dangerous for you or your family members, especially newborns. Yes, that’s the world we live in today.

Dyson TP04 Review

What is Dyson TP04?

Dyson Pure Cool TP04 fan is one of those few upgrades from previous versions of the TP Series: TP01, TP02, and TP03. Dyson TP04 is a large, bladeless, HEPA air purifier that is designed with the patented Dyson amplifier.

The Dyson Pure Cool TP04 does a fantastic job cleaning PM2.5 and PM10 particulate matter and noxious gases. Unlike other air purifiers, you get an innovative bladeless fan system that provides excellent cooling for medium-sized rooms. The elegant design allows it to blend into most modern houses, and it connects over Wi-Fi to deliver real-time indoor air quality data to your phone.

Who Should Buy Dyson TP04?

We would recommend the Dyson TP04 to people looking for the following features in an air purifier:

  • Smart Control: The Dyson TP04 air purifier can be controlled using your smartphone, voice control (when paired with a voice control device like Amazon Echo), or a physical remote control.

  • Real Time Air Quality: The Pure Cool purifier also can measure real time air quality (inside and outside). When in “Auto Mode”, this feature allows the Dyson to self-adjust as needed in order to accommodate changing air conditions.

  • Customizable Air Flow: The Dyson air purifier also comes with a number of features designed to allow you a custom airflow experience.

Comparing the Dyson TP01 vs. TP02 vs. TP04  in Detail

1.Design

  • Dyson TP01

The Pure Cool TP01 looks modern and sleek — a conversation piece that just happens to shift air around the room. It’s an incredibly beautiful piece of technology with all of the curves and slick edges one would want out of a fancy appliance.

At just 8.4 pounds and only 7.5 inches across, it can be easily moved around. But its tall height, coming in at 40 inches, makes it difficult to hide. It also isn’t very high-tech on the inside, with only a single Glass HEPA filter and no way for it to collect or display data.

  • Dyson TP02

The Dyson Pure Cool TP02 uses a tall slender design with a large open amplifier on top of the unit. There are fan no blades.

Instead air is driven through the bottom of the unit, through the filter, and out the amplifier on top.

  • Dyson TP04

The design of the Dyson Pure Cool TP04 is tall with a narrow base and a large, open amp that the air flows through.

The Dyson TP04 is available in three different colors:White + Silver,Black + Silver and Iron + Blue.

2.Accessories & Parts

  • Dyson TP01

The Pure Cool comes with clear, illustrated instructions on how to set it up, but it’s so simple you probably won’t even need them.

There are a few included accessories and parts that come with the Dyson Pure Cool. Nothing too fancy, just parts needed for basic use.

What’s in the box?

  1. Dyson TP04 air purifier

  2. Power cord

  3. 360° Glass HEPA filter

  4. Activated charcoal filter

  5. Remote control

3.HEPA Filters

  • Dyson TP01

360° filtration system uses a HEPA filter to capture 99.97% pollutants as small as 0.3 microns.

Safe and easy to clean with low maintenance, easy-to-replace filters

  • Dyson TP02

The Pure Cool TP02 uses a single large circular HEPA filter that wraps all the way around the base of the unit.

HEPA filters are designed to remove 99.97% of airborne particulates down to as small as 0.3 microns.

  • Dyson TP04

The Dyson Pure Cool TP04 uses two main filters that work together to effectively purify the air. The filter set includes:

  1. 360° Glass HEPA filter: can capture particulate down to 0.3 microns in size

  2. Activated carbon filter: helps to reduce and remove odors from the room

 4.Performance

(1) How much space does it cover?

  • Dyson TP01

With a coverage area of up to 28 m² (300 ft²), the TP01 is designed for slightly smaller rooms than its successor.

The Dyson Pure CoolTP01 had no trouble handling a good-size primary bedroom; while in auto mode, it mostly ran on lower airflow settings (i.e. three and under) and frequently turned itself off because it had effectively cleaned the air.

  • Dyson TP02

Dyson says that this purifier is suitable large for rooms measuring up to 400 sq.ft. Although there are no indications of the exact CADR and ACH ratings for this unit, this manufacturer says that it will purify a 139ft2 room in 27 minutes.

In terms of cooling, though, this model has an airflow rate of 414l/s at the highest speed. This rate is so impressive and makes it an excellent choice for large spaces.

  • Dyson TP04

The TP04 is suitable for rooms with a size of up to 55 m² (600 ft²). While both purifiers could be used in even bigger rooms, the Air Changes Per Hour (ACH) would decrease accordingly.

The TP02 and TP04 combine Dyson’s Air Multiplier technology with oscillation to project purified air evenly across the room.

(2) Noise

  • Dyson TP01

Like a regular fan, you can turn up or down the level of the Pure Cool fan between a range of 1 to 10. On the lower settings, up to 3, it’s virtually silent. Between 4 and 6, the sound is noticeable but still fairly quiet, not making any kind of true “fan” noise until setting 7 and higher.

  • Dyson TP02

The Pure Cool Link TP02 is very quiet when running at speeds 1-4. It starts getting audible at levels 5 through 7. At speed 10, it reaches a noise level of 63 dB. While it’s not overly annoying, you’ll find yourself turning up the volume of the TV and even raising your voice when talking.

It’s very likely, however, that you’re going to find low to mid-level speeds adequate at least most of the time.

  • Dyson TP04

The TP04 functions perfectly well as an oscillating tower fan, and while it isn't quite as whisper-quiet as our top tower fan for low-volume performance, the Honeywell QuietSet, it's still less noisy than average, maxing out at 48 decibels at close range.

(3) Energy Consumption

  • Dyson TP01

As an air purifier, Dyson TP01's maximum wattage is 44W. If you run it 24/7 – generally, HPo1 is turned on all the time – it will use about 1 kWh per day. And that's if it's at the maximum fan speed setting all the time, even during the night.

  • Dyson TP02

This tower fan has a very modest power usage of 56 watts. Assuming that you run it for 12 hours daily and you pay an average of 12 cents per kilowatt-hour of electricity, this would translate to approximately $30 per year.

  • Dyson TP04

Today Dyson TP04 has a power consumption of only 56 watts, which is amazing for its high fan power. Other air purifiers with such same CADR rating are always 100 watts on average. So do you like an energy-saving device? The Dyson TP04 is yours.

5.Warranty

  • Dyson TP01

The Dyson TP01 comes with 2-year parts and labor warranty and 30-day money-back guarantee.

  • Dyson TP02

This model comes with a 2-year warranty on parts and labor. The filter is not covered.

  • Dyson TP04

The Dyson Pure Cool TP04 come with a 30-day return policy that includes free shipping in addition to a 2-year warranty on parts and labor.

6.Price

  • Dyson TP01

With a high price tag of $399.99, the Dyson Pure Cool TP01 is by no means a cheap air purifier, however, it can often be found on sale for $299.99. It’s widely available from retailers such as Amazon, Best Buy, Target, and Dyson itself. A replacement filter costs $69.99 directly from Dyson, which is a steep price to pay.

  • Dyson TP02

While you’ll find bigger air purifiers elsewhere, in almost every other way the Dyson TP02 is a match for far pricier air purifiers, with the official price to be $499. The device is no longer the flagship of the Dyson Pure Cool Tower series, and thanks to a drop in price, we can get it much easier.

  • Dyson TP04

At a hefty retail price of $550 (£500, AU$799) the sleek-looking, HEPA filter-equipped appliance promises to purify the air in your home while simultaneously casting a cooling breeze from side to side. Thanks to a built-in Wi-Fi radio, you can control the thing remotely and track your home's air quality from an app on your phone, or turn it on and off using voice commands with Siri or Alexa.

Final Verdict: Which Dyson Is The Better Air Filter?

  • Dyson TP01

It’s not necessary to splurge for the Dyson Pure Cool TP01 if you want a smart and effective air purifier, but if you want one that also functions like a pretty decent oscillating fan and looks like a cool, modern showpiece in its own right, it might be worth the investment. While the Pure Cool TP01 works extremely well as an automatic air purifier, keeping the room clean and odor-free, it stands out when you consider everything it has to offer, from its sleek and unobtrusive appearance and its dual-purpose cooling abilities.

  • Dyson TP02

Dyson TP02 is the second-gen of the Dyson Pure Cool Tower series, with a huge improvement is smart features. It is a bit more expensive, but is still a budget flagship if compared to the Dyson TP04. However, as Dyson released the 9th generation of its air purifiers, I don’t recommend an air purifier that’s too old like the Dyson TP02. It also seems Dyson has removed the Dyson TP02 out of its product page.

  • Dyson TP04

Thanks to dual-purpose design that is clever as it is elegant the Pure Cool TP04 is a premium purchase that nonetheless represents good value for money. Although you may find yourself softly cursing when it comes time to buy new filters, as they are also not cheap. However, by combining a really quite stylish tower fan with an effective air purifier that can be more or less to run on its own, the Dyson Pure Cool TP04 is a life-improving premium purchase that you are unlikely to regret making.

Conclusion

The Dyson TP01,TP02 and TP04 are air purifiers that can also serve as a fan on hot days plus they both look great with their bladeless and slender tower.

If you are planning to get the TP01,TP02 or TP04 and you are confused which to buy, here are the things that you should consider:

  • The TP01, TP02 and TP04 are high-quality machines and they do not come cheap. They are expensive and for their features so if you want to save a few bucks, pick the TP01 because it is cheaper.

  • The filters of both the TP01 and TP02 have to be replaced every year and it costs extra money since you have to buy the replacement filter cartridges separately.

  • If having a lot of mode options is important for you, get the TP04. It has Jet Focus mode, Auto mode, Night mode, Diffused mode, and Backward Airflow mode. Unlike the TP02, which only has two modes.

  • If you want a purifier fan that can swing around the entire room, the TP04 is the better option since it has an oscillation of 350 degrees, a jump from TP01's 70 degrees and TP02’s 180 degrees.

  • These air purifiers are considered safer than an average fan you see in the market, however, if you have small kids or pets who love to play and run around the house, the TP04 is a much better option since it has a Child Safe feature which automatically turns off the device when knocked over.

  • If you want a more powerful air purifier, choose the TP04 since it has an upgraded air filtration system and uses Glass HEPA Media filter with Active Carbon.

    FAQs

1.What is the difference between Dyson tp01 and tp04?

Considering the reviews made about these pure and cool devices, we discovered the major difference between tp01 and tp04 lies in the Modes. While the TP04 purifying fan has both auto, night, diffused, jet focus and Backward modes, the TP01 purifier fan doesn’t have any.

Also in terms of oscillation, the TP04 has a large degree of oscillation that amounts to 350 degrees, while the TP01 has just 70 degrees capacity.

2.What is the difference between TP02 and TP04?

The TP04 is an updated version of the TP02. It has a higher coverage area of up to 55 m² (600 ft²), offers up to 350 degrees of oscillation compared to 70 degrees for the TP02, and has a higher CADR at 90 m³/h. Both air purifiers can be controlled remotely via the Dyson Link app and support voice control via Amazon Alexa.

3.How long do Dyson The filters last?

The Dyson TP01 has a filter that could last one 1year or more if thoroughly maintained. However, they are not permanently fixed as you need to buy a replacement filter whenever required.

4.Is Dyson Air Purifier A HEPA?

Yes. All Dyson units are HEPA air purifiers. By definition, HEPA filters remove more than 99.97% of all very tiny (0.3 microns in diameter) particles. That’s the basis of Dyson air purifiers as well as other air purifiers.

Dyson uses two types of HEPA filters, namely:

    • Second generation 360 Glass HEPA filters.

    • Advanced 360 Glass HEPA Media filters.

5.Are Dyson Air purifier Filters Washable?

No, not at all. Dyson produces highly sophisticated HEPA and activated carbon filters. You can’t just run water over them and help that tiny particles, captured by Dyson’s HEPA filters, will be washed away.

6.How often should the filter be changed?

Dyson suggests changing the filters at least once a year but it is usually indicated on the display of the device when you have to change the filter already. Replacement filters are available at their stores. Authentic Dyson filter is recommended.

7.Can the Dyson Link App control more than one device?

Yes, the Dyson Link App can control more than one unit as long as it supports WiFi.
