If your buying budget can't quite stretch that far, then the V8 Absolute remains a fantastic replacement for your standard upright vacuum. At launch, it marked a significant improvement over its predecessor, the V6, and it's still a competent, lightweight vacuum in 2020. It also happens to be much cheaper than its younger, more powerful relatives.

Dyson's V8 Absolute cordless vacuum cleaner takes everything great about the already impressive V6 Absolute, and ramps things up a notch. It doesn't look too dissimilar to its predecessor, and Dyson is hardly reinventing the wheel, but these intricate improvements over radical changes are what made the V8 Absolute the best cordless vacuum cleaner to buy when it first launched.  

The V8 is drastically quieter than the previous V6, making vacuuming a less strenuous task. Dyson claims there's a 50% reduction in noise, and while we'll have to take Dyson's word for it, it's definitely noticeably easier on the ears.The digital motor inside the V8 Absolute has more power. The Dyson V8 may not be the most powerful cordless vacuum, but it has a great balance between ergonomics, power, and run time. One thing that surprised me with the V8 is how well it does at cleaning surface dirt. There isn’t much of a difference between this model and the V10 in my tests.

The one thing that the V8 lacks is a middle setting that limits its range, at least for cleaning carpet. On bare floors, the soft roller attachment will do quite well even on the low setting, so run time won’t be an issue.

It’s a rare combination that you need to look for when buying something without a cord.

You’ll get a versatile tool that can be used in different configurations, depending on the need.

If you’re looking for the following features (listed below) in a cordless stick vacuum, then the Dyson V8 would be a great option.
