  • Salvatore Ferragamo Gancini Loafers Review

Brand History

Salvatore Ferragamo was a novice Italian shoe designer who began his career as an apprentice to a shoemaker. With a vision to create and produce the world's most beautiful shoes, he began his journey to fame by opening a humble repair and made-to-measure shoe shop first in Bonito, Italy and later Santa Barbara. The first major step that helped him propel towards becoming a renowned souter was opening the Hollywood Boot Shop in Boulevard las Palmas, in 1923. The socialites of that era were regulars at his shop. His client list included Audrey Hepburn, Sophia Loren, the Duchess of Windsor and Eva Peron.

Known for working with unusual materials, his use of raffia, lace, cellophane and fish skin created revolutionary shoes. Instigating new shapes and materials including the platform shoe in 1938 and the cork wedge in 1942, Ferragamo's company is infamous for innovative shoes. After a century, continuing his legacy, the brand Salvatore Ferragamo is today known to be a purveyor of quality shoes.

Salvatore Ferragamo is considered a benchmark of understated luxury. The Salvatore ferragamo Gancini  loafers feature Salvatore Ferragamo's iconic Gancini logo plaque in gold-tone metal, which hallmarked the label's signature handbag in 1969. They're crafted by Italian artisans from smooth leather with a lightly cushioned insole and set on a small stacked heel. The loafer also nicely blends in with the design with the signature Ferragamo logo emblazoned across the middle piece. Wear them with muted tailoring to spotlight the polished hardware.

Material & Durability

Salvatore Ferragamo was without a doubt one of the best shoemakers in the history of fashion. The shoemake's fine skills and creativity produced shoes that fit perfectly to the wearer's foot with his made-to-measure handmade shoes. The leather is indeed very soft and will probably fit comfortably instantly. The stitching on the shoe had no imperfections and the sole of the shoe has a nice curve to it, giving your foot the extra bounce with each step. Many will appreciate the nice rubber sole on the bottom of the shoe making it more comfortable to stand around in all day.

The Ferragamo shoes are made to last and still look good after extended use and are reparable. Further assuming that there is also a in-house maintenance service available where your shoes get re-vamped and re-soled correctly, then they certainly are worth the money.

 Colors

The Salvatore ferragamo Gancini loafers are available in Nebbiolo, black, chambray, beechwood, walnut, red, etc. I prefer black and beechwood which is very classic for a long time.

  • Gucci Horsebit Loafers Review

Brand History

Gucci is an Italian fashion label founded in 1921 by Guccio Gucci, making it one of the oldest Italian fashion brands in operation today. Like many historic fashion houses, the brand started out as a luggage manufacturer, producing luxury travel goods for Italy's wealthy upper-classes, as well as equestrian equipment.

In 1953 Gucci created a loafer entirely inspired by the equestrian lifestyle so beloved of its founder Aldo Gucci. The result was the iconic Horsebit shoe we know today: A simple leather loafer embellished with a metal horsebit. It's both classic and contemporary and is an essential shoe for women and men all over the globe. It's an iconic shoe, and in fact it's the only shoe that is part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and it has been so since 1985.

Gucci Horsebit loafer is a shoe that has the character of Italian style. Because they've been so popular over the years, there are many iterations and models, some are slippers with a soft heel, you can find them with different logos, but the original one has the classic horsebit and no logos that are visible.

Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini debuted the 1953 Horsebit Anniversary collection with a wide selection of new materials, colors, textures, and hardware finishes. In terms of the overall appearance, Gucci  loafers have a slimline silhouette and gently rounded toes. They are decorated with the iconic Horsebit detail. By virtue of not being excessively shiny or bright, the gold-tone metal is reasonably low-key and tasteful, and yet visible. Gucci Horsebit loafer is available in both men's and women's styles. It can also be worn as slipper.

Material & Durability

Gucci Horsebit loafer is designed to be worn with the heel folded down as a slipper or up as a loafer. It is made from incredibly soft and supple leather, so it quickly adjusts to the shape of the foot for a bespoke fit.

The moccasin top was sewn by hand, because of  the different stitch density on the side and in the front. You could also see little puckering along the edges. And the sole construction of the shoe is sewn and not glued which is typical a hallmark of handwork.

Their painstaking craftsmanship and timelessness are such that Gucci loafers can last for decades if properly looked after. The more you wear them, the better they look, as the leather develops a patina, and the more comfortable they become as they mould to your feet. They will never gone out of fashion makes them very efficient and longlasting in  your wardrobe. Thus they're an economically savvy investment. Besides, you can always return your shoes to Gucci for repair, and they take them back as long as you don't bring them to local cobblers in-between.

Colors

Black is the most classic version of the shoes - a calf leather version. Gucci horsebit loafers are also available in other colours, such as beige, pink, brown and white, all of which are gorgeous. You can also find crocodile skins in brown, black, or navy.

  • Prada Patent leather Loafers Review

Brand History

Prada is one of the most iconic brands in fashion history. The designers behind the brand have continually striven to be innovative while maintaining their classically refined style. The first Prada store opened in 1913 in the prestigious Galleria Vittorio Emmanuele II in Milan, Italy. Mario Prada opened the leather goods shop with his brother, Martino. The store sold bags, trunks, steamers, and travel accessories.

In 1919, Prada was awarded the title of Official Supplier of the Italian Royal House. This honor is what makes Prada a symbol of the Italian aristocracy. The company first added footwear to their growing product line in 1979. Its first collection of women's shoes was well received. The fashion world fell in love with Prada's clean lines, luxurious fabrics, and color selections. The history of Prada turned as they became one of the most coveted brands in the fashion world by the early 1990s.

Material & Durability

Created in both black patent leather as well as more pared-back tones, Prada's loafers are considered as one of the best quality and comfiest shoes from high end luxury fashion retailers. In terms of comfort, Prada shoes are highly rated among many because of the craftsmanship. The leather upper is great and the insole is super soft. The insole is made of leather and out sole is made monobloc rubber sole which offer a cushion and better support for the shoe as opposed to man made alternatives.
