Key Ingredients & Benefits
Peptide Complex (Palmitoyl Tripeptide and Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide)
Peptides is a very big group of ingredients. They all consist of a different combination of amino-acids. Our skin produces peptides naturally. Some of them work as natural anti-biotics, promote wound-healing and production of collagen. In skincare, they might be able to support skin barrier restoration and even have an anti-aging benefit. At the very least, they certainly help attract water to the skin and support the hydration in this way.
Niacinamide
Niacinamide is a well-studied multi-tasking active. It is a great ingredient to have in a moisturizer. It is stable, and can work well in almost any hydrating formulation. There is solid evidence that niacinamide can help support skin barrier, regulate oil production and reduce acne and clogged pores. It also helps to fight photodamage and help improve the skin tone, reducing pigmentation marks.
Ceramides (1, 3, 6-II)
Ceramides are an important part of our natural skin barrier. The ceramides used in skincare are synthetic or come from plants. They help soften the skin and can help "fill the gaps" in the skin barrier, keeping the skin hydrated and resilient for longer.
Caffeine
The invigorating effects of coffee are well known. In skincare, caffeine "perk up" the skin and stimulates circulation. As a vasoconstrictor, Caffeine may temporarily constrict the superficial blood vessels in the skin, helping the skin to appear less red, irritated, inflammation and puffiness. It also tightens and brightens the skin, reducing wrinkles and visibly smoothing away cellulite on the body.
Hyaluronic Acid
As the chief glycosaminoglycan in skin, hyaluronic acid works to keep every aspect of skin stable, safeguarded, and constantly renewed. Hyaluronic acid is also a moisturizer, a type of hygroscopic skin care ingredient that means it draws moisture from the surrounding, which is especially beneficial for dry, dehydrated skin. Scientific researches have shown that Hyaluronic Acid helps improve skin hydration and collagen production, fight free radicals, maintain skin elasticity, and even has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, which contribute to wound healing.

Review
Soothing, almost cooling, absorbs quickly, a mix between a gel and a cream, the difference is there over continued use ( softer undereyes, reduced dark circles and puffiness) but not jarring of course, non irritating to the eyes.
It has a great slip to it so it can be spread across the tender area easily without any tugging or pulling. It doesn't have the richness of some thick eye creams, and perhaps that could be a major benefit for those who prefer a lighter feel. Recommended this for younger skin. Also the tube is easy to dispense just the right amount you need too.
One shopper said: "Some people say eye cream is a waste, but when I use my normal moisturizer I get milia under and around my eyes. The CeraVe Skin Renewing Eye Cream doesn't give me any issues and it provides good hydration. It's easy to use and absorbs exactly as I would want an eye cream to. I would definitely recommend to anyone who is looking for an eye cream!"
Comparison with CeraVe's Eye Repair Cream
In terms of formula, both eye creams contain ceramides, niacinamide, and hyaluronic acid to reduce the appearance of dark circles and puffiness around the eyes. The Skin Renewing Eye Cream uses peptides as the main ingredient, which is aimed at firming and reducing the look of fine lines and crow's feet wrinkles. It also has added caffeine to visibly brighten tired-looking eyes.
In terms of texture, Eye Repair Cream is obviously thicker than Renewing Eye Cream, so Eye Repair Cream is more moisturizing.
To sum up, if you want anti-aging and like a lightweight texture, choose the Renewing Eye Cream. If you want to hydrate and reduce the appearance of dark circles and puffiness, choose the Eye Repair Cream.
