Design

The Momentum 2 On-Ear Wireless headphones look and feel a lot like the original Momentum On-Ears.  On the full-size Momentum Wireless cans you get real leather; here, Sennheiser uses Alcantara on the pads and headband.Alcantara is a very hard-wearing synthetic alternative to suede. It feels soft, and doesn’t have the obviously fake feel of many synthetic fabrics. The Sennheiser Momentum 2 On-Ear Wireless headphones also have a steel headband with a very sturdy hinge that lets you fold them up to fit in the neat included carry case. The outer of the cups is plastic, and the showiest part is perhaps the real stitching on the headband.

The most striking design feature of Sennheiser Momentum 3 Wireless is their adjustable headband, crafted from pearl-blasted stainless steel sliders that are held in place by a shiny logo-adorned button. The earcups and foldable headband are made from sheepskin leather, which unfortunately means these headphones are unsuitable for those who avoid using animal products. These new Momentum 3 Wireless headphones do away with the fiddly buttons of their predecessors. Now, the power button is gone entirely, replaced with an automatic on/off function that tracks when you take the headphones on and off your ears.

The design of the Momentum 4 Wireless is a strong deviation from the Momentum 3 Wireless, with the headphones now looking a lot like the competition. The foldable and slideable ear cups have been replaced with ear cups that swivel. Sennheiser has also replaced the genuine leather used for the headband and ear pads with PU leather while the wires connecting the two ear cups are no longer visible. Sennheiser has also redesigned the carrying case too, which now appears to be sturdier than the previous generation's case. You will also notice a big change out of the box, as there are no longer any physical button controls, save for the power button and a pairing button. Instead, Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless has opted to go with touch controls.

Sound Quality

The Momentum 2 makes clarity and cohesiveness of the music. However, with this appliance you will hear congested soundstage and separation. While retaining the vibrant sonics of the Momentum 2, the Momentum 3 upped the boom on these cans. The stronger bass response blends well with mids and highs, spoiling listeners with hi-fi audio that allows them to catch the slightest nuances in recordings.

The Sennheiser Momentum 4 offers the best sound quality among the three.Sennheiser equipped the Momentum 4 with a powerful 42mm transducer system, Hi-Res playback, intuitive features, and multiple EQ settings. These headphones pump out audio-grade sound with excellent reproduction to enjoy the subtle nuances in complex recordings.

Active Noise Cancelling

Compared to Sennheiser Momentum Wireless 2, Active Noise Cancelling has been significantly improved by Sennheiser in the third generation of headphones. This provides even better protection against external noise. The Sennheiser Momentum Wireless 3 has three levels for the ANC mode, which can be controlled via the app.

With no doubt,  Sennheiser Momentum Wireless 4 has the best noise-cancelling technology among the three.First, the level of natural noise isolation from the over-ear design of the Momentum 4 is good to begin with, thanks to the way the cushioned earcups enveloped your ears.  There's 1 outer mic on each earcup and 2 mics inside the earcups that analyze the level of background noise getting through.   the Momentum 4 Wireless uses adaptive technology to automatically adjust the level of noise cancelling to your surroundings.

You can set the level of transparency mode to enable you to hear external sounds while you're out and about without removing your headphones.  It has what looks like over 20 levels of adjustment (the increments are so small that I lost count). Speeding cars and gusty winds were heavily minimized, thanks to the Wind Noise Reduction feature, which can be set to Max or automatically adjusted via Auto setting.

Battery Life

A significant upgrade that the Momentum 4 Wireless brings is better battery life. The headphones provide up to 60 hours (with ANC) of listening time on a single charge, which marks a significant bump compard to the 22 hours of Momentum 2 Wireless and the 17 hours of Momentum 3 Wireless . In addition, the new model also charges faster. A full charge now takes 2 hours instead of 3 hours, and a 5-minute charge will provide up to 4 hours of playback.

Verdict

The Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless are a seriously good set of wireless over-ear headphones, offering excellent active noise-cancellation, a suite of impressive features plus excellent sound and call quality. They’re also light and comfortable – and the 60-hour battery is just another way in which they're unbeatable at the level. So if you want the best wireless headphone,  the Sennheiser Momentum Wireless 4 is the way to go.

But in terms of sound quality, the Sennheiser Momentum Wireless 3 is still not a bad choice. It is suitable for those who do not have high requirements for noise reduction and want to save some money. As for Sennheiser Momentum 2.0, it is already a very old version, and I personally do not recommend buying it.
