Dior Sauvage Parfum is a new, highly concentrated interpretation of the original, inspired by landscapes of moonlit prairies, dark skies and campfires. Dior perfumer François Demachy designed the composition to blend extreme freshness with warm, oriental tones. The result is a rich and intoxicating Amber.

l was expecting it to simply be a deeper and darker version in the range, but it seems to lack the spicy vibrancy of the original EDT and EDP. The fresh opening of bergamot and mandarin is soon overwhelmed by a smooth sandalwood and cedar heart that adds a welcome boost of masculinity. Later on, Sauvage Parfum develops its own identity. It’s dark, dry, woody, with a some sweetness. Sandalwood and cedar are in a leading role, along with vanilla, and some of the citrus juiciness.

It differs from the EDP version, with way less of the ambroxan note. Upon dry-down, you do get vanilla, but it is paired with tonka bean and sandalwood, giving this a creaminess that is more pronounced than the others. The tonka bean adding a bitter almond note which is incredibly classy, the olibanum injects a spicy, sweet balsamic note. 

In the end, it has an extreme freshness bathed in warm amber tones and an animal beauty that comes to life on the skin.
