If you want maximum customization, you’ll want to check out the Victrix Pro BFG. Its modular design allows you to arrange its face buttons in the traditional PlayStation layout, the off-set Xbox arrangement, or remove one half entirely to make room for a fight pad. Add to that a generous five levels of trigger adjustments, four particularly well-placed remappable back buttons, a clutch of alternate stick caps and gates, and even the handy option to remap profiles just using button shortcuts (once you’ve committed them to memory), and the DualSense Edge looks a little lean by comparison. It’s designed first and foremost for competitive players of fighting games and shooters who want to tailor their gamepad just so, and a Tournament Lock feature handily deactivates the system buttons to avoid any accidental presses. But this isn’t a new-gen controller by any means. It lacks adaptive triggers and doesn’t feature rumble of any kind, let alone haptic feedback. The Victrix Pro BFG is solely for those who want a competitive edge.

DualSense Edge Review
Take customizations to another level with this controller, offering interchangeable back buttons and sticks along with tons of other handy features.
Sony’s pro PS5 controller, the DualSense Edge is the souped-up superior sibling to the DualSense. It packs a bunch of features that players of competitive multiplayer games will find particularly useful: on the back are two paddles (positioned within comfortable reach of your index and middle finger), the tops of the analog sticks can be swapped out for taller or shorter heights, and the triggers can be set to travel in short strokes, useful for twitchy shooters, to long strokes that make full use of their adaptive functionality.
Every button is remappable and the analog stick deadzones can be adjusted. Though more impressive is how easily these custom settings can be changed. A quick hold of the added Function buttons will let you cycle through your four custom mapping profiles, or adjust them on the fly. Better yet, the analog stick modules can be fully removed and replaced, meaning any possible future stick drift won’t render the controller a glorified paper weight.
Don’t expect much from the DualSense Edge’s battery, though. It’s even worse than the original DualSense, and only manages around 10 hours before needing a charge – even less if you’re playing a game that makes full use of haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.

SCUF Reflex Pro Review

To be honest: There’s little reason to buy the Scuf Reflex Pro now that the DualSense Edge exists. With the same basic design and build quality of the DualSense but with fewer customizable components, non-replaceable analog sticks, and nothing in the way of adjustable trigger sensitivity or remappable buttons, the Reflex Pro does little to justify the extra $20 you’ll spend over Sony’s own pro controller. In addition, the Scuf Reflex Pro doesn’t support haptic feedback.
The gamepad’s two draws, however, are its rear paddles and custom skins. The Reflex Pro has four paddles on its back rather than the DualSense Edge’s two, which are nicely spaced to hover at your fingertips without taking up too much room. Plus, you can purchase it in a bunch of nifty colorways and preset design patterns if you want to add a bit of visual flair.
It’s comfortable, solidly built, and does most of what you’d expect a pro controller to do. But, with the DualSense Edge beating it on price and offering many extra features, the Scuf Reflex Pro is really only serving those desperate for four rear paddles and optional color schemes.

Design and Feel:
PDP - Victrix Pro BFG Wireless Controller
Like any pro controller worth its weight, the L2 - R2 trigger switches have five on-the-fly adjustable press depths — or trigger stops — to accommodate competitive FPS players. And speaking of pro controller features, the P1-P4 paddle switches are here, ensconced on the backside of the controller as per usual, though unlike some contemporaries these are not removable and can sometimes be pressed by accident. Luckily, each can be toggled off individually.
There are two more buttons here than on the DualSense Edge, which inexplicably deviated from the Pro controller norm by providing only two. Mapping them is easy and doesn't require software: a press of the profile button at the back of the controller allows any other button to be mirrored to P1 through to P4.
Customisation can also be done via the Victrix Control Hub software, and if the thought of diving into a peripheral brand's app elicits a groan, then you're not alone. But the PDP software is actually pretty straightforward and stripped back, allowing left and right trigger dead zone customisation, general button remapping (including the paddles) and audio options which only work for PlayStation. The ability to invert the analog sticks on a hardware level will definitely appeal to zealots who bemoan the lack of this option in some modern games.
Despite the BFG Pro's larger footprint compared to the DualSense and its more featureful sibling, it's actually marginally lighter without feeling cheap. The build quality is firm and robust, and the ribbing on both handles doesn't feel prone to pilling and wear like very many other third-party controllers.
One unmistakable advantage the Pro BFG has over both the DualSense and DualSense Edge is its battery life. Thanks in no small part to its lack of haptics. The advertised battery life is 20 hours, and the included USB-A to USB-C cord is long enough that it's pretty easy to play wired in most environments.
PS5 DualSense Edge Wireless Controller
If you’ve held the regular DualSense for even a few minutes, the design, feel and weight of the Edge will be instantly familiar; though there are subtle differences. You get the same adaptive triggers, haptic feedback and gyrometer features of the normal PS5 pad wrapped up in a classier package.
The Edge comes bundled with two pairs of these optional back buttons — one set shaped like stubby crescent moons, the other more like conventional levers. Both sets of paddles boast a classy metallic quality. However, it’s a shame the DualSense Edge is limited to two back buttons when Microsoft’s high-end gamepad is treated to four.
The fact you can swap out the Edge's stick modules is also worth highlighting. That Sony gives you the option to swap out faulty sticks for replacements modules — which cost $20 — is a canny move that ensures a problem analog stick is no longer a controller-ruining issue. The swapping process is pleasingly simple, too. Thanks to a slider on the rear of the Edge, you can simply pop the sticks out without the need of a screwdriver.
There are other improvements, too. The DualSense Edge gets its own clam-shaped case to house not only this premium gamepad but its accessories — four additional thumbsticks and a 9-foot charging cable.
And there are also subtle quality of life improvements to the Edge’s touchpad and triggers. L2 and R2 now boast three separate stop sliders to reduce travel distance, which is a feature that should come in handy for hardcore first-person shooter players. Said triggers and a sturdier feeling touchpad are also adorned with tiny PlayStation shape symbols that provide a slightly more tactile feeling of touch and grip than the normal DualSense.
But the battery life of the DualSense Edge sucks. So there’s no doubt the DualSense Edge is a terrifically well-made controller, but its battery life lets it down big time.
SCUF Reflex Pro Wireless Performance PS5 Controller
The Reflex Pro looks and feels almost exactly the same as the DualSense, sharing the same long, curved grips and large, trapezoidal touchpad. And everything else about the Reflex Pro is identical to the DualSense, including the impressive new features Sony packed into the controller. The adaptive triggers offer variable sensitivity and pull distance depending on the game and the situation, the rumble is just as subtle and accurate, and the built-in speaker is as loud and clear as a speaker that size can be. Even the direction pad, face buttons, and triggers are effectively identical to the DualSense’s, with the only visual distinction from the front being the circular home button instead of a PlayStation-logo-shaped one.
You’ll get another hint of how different the Reflex Pro is from the DualSense by pulling up the grips' front tips. The plastic panel below the touchpad and between the outer grips comes off, letting you pull the convex analog sticks out and replace them with the concave sticks also included with the controller. Both sets of sticks are black plastic with rubber-coated tips, and while they seem very light rattling around in the box, they’re exceptionally secure when clicked into place. The tips feature pleasant, two-tone textures with smooth centers and slightly ridged sides that let you keep your thumb angled in a given position when you’re pushing the stick from the edge.
The Reflex Pro's back is where the controller really sets itself apart. A wide bump near the gamepad's top holds four programmable paddle buttons that extend down against the grips' inner curves. When holding the Reflex, your middle fingers sit naturally between the two paddles on either side, letting you easily pull any four of them at any time. They’re much more comfortably arranged than the four vertical paddles on the back of the Scuf Vantage.
You can physically remove any of the paddles by pulling them firmly out of their holes on the bump. The bump itself doesn’t come off, but it sits in the natural “dead zone" between where the index fingers rest on the triggers and the middle fingers rest on the grips. The paddles themselves are simple, black plastic levers that are functional and solid-feeling, but not quite the metal paddles on the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller. The grips on the Reflex Pro distinguish it from the normal Reflex. They’re textured to make the controller easier to hold than the smooth grips on the Reflex.
