GameSir G8 Galileo Mobile Controller Review
The GameSir G8 Galileo is a mobile gaming controller that connects to your phone via USB-C and transforms it into a handheld console, which means it works with most Android phones and the iPhone 15 series. One downside to the USB-C connector is that it won’t work with some cases. Plus, it has a USB-C port so you can charge while you play and a 3.5mm headphone jack if you like wired earbuds.
The GameSir G8 Galileo has a similar layout to an Xbox controller, with its asymmetric sticks, a D-pad and four face buttons. What sets it apart is the inclusion of hall-effect sticks and two additional rear buttons for customizable remapping. It boasts a USB-C port for pass-through charging and comes with the GameSir app, which enables you to easily map controls for any game. GameSir’s website also notes that the controller works with Steam Link, PS Remote Play, and Moonlight. The only rather dull aspect of the G8's design is its color, which is a kind of muted grey.

Additionally, they both have 2 back buttons for additional control options, a turbo function for rapid button presses, and the ability to interchange key values for personalized settings. Of course, there are differences between the two controllers. Gamesir G8 Plus is the Bluetooth version that supports wired or dongle wireless connection to a PC, besides switch, iOS, Android, tablet, and PC connectivity. GameSir X2 Pro Xbox Mobile Controller Review
The GameSir X2 Pro is an officially licensed mobile gaming controller by Xbox, designed for use with Android smartphones. It is fully compatible with devices that are running Android 8.0 or later and supports most mobile games available for download from the Google Play store, including popular titles like Apex Legends Mobile, Genshin Impact, and Call of Duty Mobile, among others.
The controller also features programmable back buttons, interchangeable thumbstick caps, and customizable face buttons, all of which can be personalized to match your preferred playstyle. Additionally, it supports almost all popular cloud gaming services, such as Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Stadia, NVIDIA GeForce Now, and Amazon Luna.
The X2 Pro is designed for Xbox, it features dual offset analog sticks, the Xbox button, Xbox-style A, B, X, Y button layout, as well as the Menu and View buttons found on the Xbox Series X|S controllers. It’s fully compatible with the Xbox Game Pass app on Android, and supports Xbox Remote Play from your local console over Wi-Fi. Even better, it includes a code for 1-month free Xbox Game Pass to get you started, although it’s only for new members and doesn’t stack with existing memberships.
Because the USB-C connector plugs directly into your phone for power, you don’t have to worry about pairing or the potential latency that Bluetooth may introduce while gaming. And, since it’s powered by your Android phone, you don’t have to worry about your controller running out of battery during use. However, if your phone is running low on battery during gameplay, you can simply plug in a USB-C cable to the bottom of the X2 Pro controller as it features USB-C passthrough charging for supported Android devices. The controller supports Android phones ranging from 100-179mm in length. While the compact size isn’t comfortable for long gaming sessions, this is still a great option for gaming on the go with your Android phone.

Design and Feel:
GameSir G8 Galileo Mobile Controller
GameSir G8 Galileo Mobile Controller is big, rounded with proper grips, and with full joystick and triggers - basically an Xbox controller with a gigantic hole in the middle for your mobile devices. This does make it less portable compared to the Kishi V2 or the Backbone, but in return you get better ergonomics and near console-like feel and performance.
Speaking of performance, the Gamesir G8 packs in Hall Effect joysticks, so the dreaded stick drift issue is not much of a worry here. The joysticks can also be swapped for the three additional ones provided in the box. You get a domed-shaped joystick with circular ribs for grip, and a taller concave one similar to the default configuration. Swapping them out is painless - pop out the front faceplate on either joystick (held by magnets), pull out the joystick head, punch in the new one, and you are done.
The G8 adopts the Xbox controller layout with ABXY face buttons, off-set joysticks, standard bumpers and triggers, Start and Select buttons, as well as a Gamesir home button, and screenshot and macros buttons. On the back, you get two additional paddles that can be configured to any other button using the Gamesir app.
All of the buttons feel excellent to use - they are clicky and punchy, and the overall device feels sturdy enough for rough use. However, the triggers do feel a bit plastic-y - not in terms of how they feel, but rather how they sound. It simply sounds like you are smashing two pieces of plastic together and they can get loud and annoying if you are using it with someone else in the room. If you are used to Xbox’s more smoother triggers, these will annoy you at first.
The most impressive thing about the G8 is how the USB-C connection is implemented. Unlike the Kishi V2 or the Backbone, the USB-C jack can be tilted up or down, basically giving some wiggle room when you are placing the device in. This prevents straining the port on the controller as well as on the device itself, giving some peace of mind that you won’t break it by mistake. Finally, the controller also features a USB-C passthrough for charging and a 3.5mm headphone jack, placed near the bottom of the device, so you can run those cables without it interfering with the screen or the grips.
GameSir G8+ Bluetooth Mobile Controller
GameSir has opted for a very subtle and minimalist design for the G8+. In contrast, it looks very similar to the original G8 controller, with some minor tweaks, but it still comes in a larger size compared to other gaming controllers. The matte-black finish, along with a nice and soft anti-slip textured surface at the back, feels much better in the hand and provides great comfort during extended gaming sessions.
The layout of the GameSir G8+ gaming controller will be familiar to Xbox gamers, with its triggers, joysticks, buttons, and full-size D-pad mirroring that of the Xbox controller. Despite its large size, making it less portable, the controller offers excellent ergonomics and a near-console-like feel, especially considering its price point.
The new G8+ mobile controller weighs 314 grams, a significant increase from the 215 grams of last year’s model. You’ll notice the heft when mounting the phone on it. The controller features a magnetic faceplate that is easily detachable. GameSir also includes three different sizes of thumbsticks in the box – tall, short, and extra short – allowing you to easily switch these out according to your preferences.
The G8+ boasts a similar layout to the Xbox controller, with a full-size D-Pad, ABXY face buttons, off-set joysticks, triggers, menu, view, screenshot, mode, home, and macros buttons.
On the bottom, you find a Bluetooth pairing button and a USB-C port for charging, as well as wired connections. GameSir has omitted the headphone jack and USB-C connector from the G8+, which is a positive change. Thanks to Bluetooth connectivity support, you can effortlessly connect your smartphone to the controller, even if it has a sizable camera module, without any issues.
The mobile game controller features an extensible design that easily supports devices with screen sizes of up to 8 inches without any issues. The slotting design is optimized for smartphones with a small camera module. There’s no problem with the case. However, make sure the case isn’t rugged; otherwise, you’ll need to take it off to use the G8+. Unlike other GameSir controllers, the G8+ doesn’t come with a hard shell carrying case.
GameSir X2 Pro Xbox Mobile Controller
The X2 Pro is designed to work with most Android phones running Android 8.0 or later and equipped with a USB-C port for charging. The controller features an expandable design similar to the Backbone One or Razer Kishi V2 to support Android phones ranging from 110-179mm in length. It also features an articulating USB-C connector that allows for a more universal fit, and even accommodates most phone cases.
Since the X2 Pro is designed for Xbox, it features dual offset analog sticks, the Xbox button, Xbox-style A, B, X, Y button layout, as well as the Menu and View buttons found on the Xbox Series X|S controllers.
The analog sticks are super snappy and responsive, but quite small in diameter by default. Thankfully, the X2 Pro includes two different sets of rubberized thumbstick caps in convex and concave variants that make the sticks feel much better to use. If you prefer a different layout for the face buttons, they can easily be popped off and swapped thanks to a unique magnetic system. The software can even be configured to match your preferred layout, as well.
Below the left thumbstick is a very clicky D-Pad with very low travel. It’s definitely got a different feel than the standard Xbox D-Pad, but it’s extremely responsive. Just below the D-Pad is a screenshot button which unfortunately didn’t work with the Android phone I was testing the controller with.
On top of the X2 Pro are two Kailh micro-switch mechanical shoulder buttons that are both snappy and responsive thanks to the tactical feedback they provide. GameSir claims they feature around 40% less travel distance than standard membrane controller buttons. Just behind the shoulder buttons are two very smooth analog triggers that offer precise control that’s accurate down to 0.1mm.
The rear of the X2 Pro features slightly raised textured grips for added comfort, with a customizable rear button embedded on each side. The mostly-rectangular shape of the controller isn’t the most comfortable design to hold, but its rounded edges and small grips help to contour to your hand a bit.
The X2 Pro is available in two colorways: Midnight (black) and Moonlight (white) and includes a hardshell zippered carrying case to store the controller, as well as room for a charging cable for your phone or headphones, if desired.

However, the GameSir G8 is for iPhone 15 series and Android. Gamesir G8 and Gamesir G8 Plus have a similar design with a sleek and ergonomic shape that fits comfortably in the hands of the users. But they have slightly different features, and which one to choose mainly depends on your needs. Similarity & difference between the GameSir G8 Plus and the GameSir G8 as follow:
The X2 Pro is a great option for those looking to take their Xbox games on the go, whether streaming from a local home console, or diving into the Xbox Game Pass catalog. With official Xbox buttons and a familiar layout, you’ll feel right at home on the X2 Pro. The addition of customizable rear buttons, interchangeable face buttons, and ultra-responsive controls makes it feel great for just about any game genre. However, its awkward shape and lack of ergonomics makes it ideal for short spurts as opposed to longer gaming sessions.
