Clarks Bushacre 2 Review
Price: $47.96 to $119.99(@Amazon)
For those who love the original Clarks Desert Boot, but want a more streamlined, lighter version, look no further than the Clarks Bushacre 2 Boot. The Clarks Bushacre desert boots are based on the Original dessert boots and so look almost the same. The Bushacre features the same chukka boot silhouette, moccasin-style construction and two eyelet lace up front as the traditional desert boot, but includes a more flexible streamlined leather or suede upper.Cushioned insole and synthetic lining make for a comfortable walking experience.Plus, the newer variation has some added softness provided by the liner fused to the leather inside of the boots.
The biggest issue with the Desert Boot is the crepe sole. Crepe rubber just doesn’t last as long as other types of synthetic rubber soles. So the Bushacre 2 uses a similar quality leather and has the same shape and construction, but the sole is harder and more durable. But with the harder sole comes a less comfortable walking experience. The Original Dessert boots are definitely the classic boots, but the Bushacre boots are less expensive and more durable, and they soften the feeling on the heels even when walking on gravel or other uneven surfaces, because of the rubber outsoles.
Finish off any outfit with these Clarks ankle boots for a classic masculine look. Chukka boot silhouette Moccasin-style construction Two eyelet lace-up front Flexible leather or suede upper Rubber sole Cushioned insole Synthetic lining.

Clarks Bushacre 3 Review
Price: $30.89 to $180.49(@Amazon)
Clark’s Bushacre 3 is a chukka that’s a leveled up version of Clarks better known Desert Boot: a thicker outsole and shock absorbing insole make for an experience that’s both more sturdy and comfortable. They are undoubtedly comfy at first, owing almost entirely to what might be the thickest Ortholite (shock absorbing foam) insole ever fitted to footwear. The leather is a typical Clark’s heavy pull-up beeswax leather, but they’ve ditched the classic crepe outsole for a rubber replacement that’s sturdier, albeit not as cloud-soft as the original.
The Bushacre 3 also has a shank, while the Desert Boot doesn’t. All of these factors mean that if you’re spending all day in them, the Desert Boot will probably be more uncomfortable, especially for heavier guys or guys or those who struggle with the kind of foot pain that well made boots help remedy.

Clarks Original Desert Review
Price: $99.99-$160(@Clarks)
No shoe is quite like the Clarks Originals Desert Boot. Nathan Clark’s 1950 design was inspired by a rough boot from Cairo’s Old Bazaar, and its minimal, progressive style sparked a worldwide footwear revolution – worn by beatniks, mods, Britpop bands, and Jamaican rude boys, from Paris to Kingston, Tokyo to London. Every design detail today remains true to that first pioneering pair.
The boot’s crafted, clean lines are enhanced with premium sand suede, finished with an unfussy lace fastening. The authentic, sustainably sourced crepe sole completes this distinctive silhouette. Instantly recognisable, forever iconic. The original Clarks signature men’s Original Dessert boots feature a synthetic sole, a 1 inch heel, an EVA footbed for moisture control and comfort, a synthetic sole and a plantation crepe outsole for added comfort. They are instantly recognizable and are suitable for just about any occasion and are perfect footwear for everyday casual attire. They look especially good when combined with blue denim.
Being made of natural leather, these boots do need some break-in time, but they will become indispensable once you get them to fit the shape of your foot.

Clarks Bushacre 2 vs. Bushacre 3 vs. Originals Desert: The Key Differences
1. The Outsole
The main difference between Clarks Bushacre and Desert Boot is that the Bushacre has a vulcanized rubber sole, which are more durable but less comfortable. So if you’re standing all day, your feet may get tired. The Desert Boot has a crepe sole, which is softer, but less durable and gets dirty quickly. Once the sole is dirty, it may not even be appropriate for business casual attire.
The Bushacre wins the battle of the sole. Some people will trade the extra bit of comfort and the classic light crepe color for the boost in durability and cleaner look. However, if comfort is your top priority, go for the Desert Boot.
2. The Leather
The leather quality is comparable between the Clarks Bushacre and Desert Boot, though the Bushacre is a bit stiffer. That said, the finishing and construction on the Bushacre is better. Another difference is that the original dessert boots sport a more shiny and dark leather. If you’ve ever owned a pair of Clarks Desert Boots, you’ll know that this leather shows every crease, scratch, and dent almost immediately when worn. However, because this leather is so oily/waxy, a vigorous brushing will move those oils around and cover up almost any daily defects.
Both leathers are fairly water resistant because of their high level of conditioning. While the leather is water resistant, neither of these boots will do you much good in a rainstorm.
3. The Insole
The Desert Boot 2 and the Bushacre 3, being the newest models, have removable foam insoles which make a huge impact on comfort as compared to the older styles, whereas the desert boots have a half length leather sock liner over a small foam pad for the insole, and a thin rubber midsole on top of the crepe outsole.
The top tier Desert Boot 2 has a leather topped Ortholite footbed made from multi-density, breathable foam with a unique outline that Clarks claims to be from gait mapping technology to help target the cushioning for improved posture and more comfortable walking. The Bushacre 3 also has a removable multi-density Ortholite insole, but it’s a more basic unit with no zone mapping tech and no leather topper.
4. Fit and Sizing
Clarks Bushacre 2 - These boots run about half a size bigger, so when ordering it is a good idea to order half a size down.
Clarks Bushacre 3 - You can go down ½ size for the Bushacre 3s, due to their wide toe box. If you have an especially wide foot you might need to go true to size. The good news is that it’s a pretty democratic last: while not everyone likes such a wide toebox, it means our wide-footed friends can be more confident with the fit.
Clarks Original Desert- They do run a bit larger than their size, so order one size down. The Desert Boot 2 feels the best out of the box with no noticeable fit concerns.
Conclusion: Which is Best for You?
You wear the Desert Boot once or twice a week—usually in a very casual outfit. In that situation, the dirty crepe sole goes with the vibe, and the comfort is critical. But if you plan on wearing your boots to the office (or even more than three times a week), I recommend the Bushacre. The sole is more durable and looks much cleaner. As an added bonus, the Bushacre 2 is less expensive.
At the end of the day, all of these will fall into the same style basket – they’re casual chukka boots that look best when paired with casual night and weekend outfits.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Clarks Desert boot worth it?
In short, the answer is yes. Clarks Desert Boots are as stylish as they are comfortable enough to wear for long periods of time. At $150, a pair won’t set you back too far, and many people are happy to wear them into the ground before buying a new pair rather than going through the hassle of sending them into Clarks for a resole. These boots go with everything and can be dressed up for more formal occasions if needed.
What is another name for Desert boots?
Desert boots are technically a type of chukka boot, which means that all desert boots are chukkas, but not all chukkas are desert boots.
How long do Clarks Desert Boots last?
If you wear your Clarks Desert Boots every day, they’ll likely last about a year and a half. If you give them a rest throughout the week and wear them only once or twice, they should last three to four years.
Are Desert boots comfortable?
Since 1950, Desert Boots have been one of Clark‘s most popular styles. Comfortable, durable and versatile, it's no wonder Clarks Desert Boots have stood the test of time. From classic suede options to leather Desert Boots, there's a style to suit everyone.
What season to wear Desert boots?
They're suitable for the spring, summer and Autumn. In fact, if you're the type of person who only owns a few pairs of shoes, a pair of desert boots should definitely be one of these because they're so versatile. You can wear desert boots in the winter, but they're not the best footwear for coping in the rain.
Do Clarks Desert boots have arch support?
Clarks Desert Boots also are best for those with flat feet, as they offer little arch support.
Can you wear socks with Desert boots?
Essentially, desert boots are so versatile that you can pair almost any pair of socks you like with them - though we would recommend sticking with trouser/crew style socks to boost your comfort. No-shows and ankle socks will most likely slip right off and just make your feet uncomfortable.
Do Clarks Desert Boots break in?
Yes, Clarks Desert Boots break in, but the period is very short (or non-existent). The leather is soft and pliable, so you shouldn’t feel any uncomfortable rubbing. The break in will mostly be felt in the heel.
Do Clark's Desert boots run true to size?
They don't!You may read that these boots run large, and that you should buy them a half size smaller than you normally wear.
