Oliver Cabell Review
Oliver Cabell Brand History and Origin
Oliver Cabell was founded in 2016 by Scott Gabrielson, Oliver Cabell has since managed to explode in popularity, thanks in large part to its dedication to craftsmanship and transparency.
Focusing primarily on its “Low 1” leather lineup, Oliver Cabell offers a variety of derivative styles, all crafted from full-grain, calfskin leather and made in Marche, Italy.
Oliver Cabell was launched in 2016 with the intention of creating a transparent, low mark-up luxury shoe brand. Not only has it done so with admirable momentum, but Oliver Cabell has also stayed true to its vision, going as far as sharing information that most brands would never dream of exposing, such as: source of each individual material, cost of manufacturing, including shipping, packaging, and miscellaneous expenses, cost of each individual material and true mark-up costs
This transparent approach, coupled with quality materials and craftsmanship, has won over a number of shoe connoisseurs, all while helping shift the status-quo when it comes to what we expect from luxury apparel brands.
Oliver Cabell Sneakers Prices
Men's sneakers: $164-$289; Women's sneakers: $164-$259. The Oliver Cabell website offers fairly competitive sales at anywhere between 25% to 50% off throughout the year.
Oliver Cabell Sneakers Design & Style
Made for men and women, Oliver Cabell blends art, craft and technology to deliver premium footwear constructed with passion.
Oliver Cabell is best-known for its sneaker styles. Its most popular styles have got to be its signature Low 1, the 1980s-inspired Court sneaker and the retro-style GAT. All of the brand's silhouettes are available in a range of colourways – from plain to patterned.
Although Oliver Cabell has made a name for itself as a go-to for leather sneakers and shoes, the brand also makes an excellent line of vegan leather sneakers that are fast becoming favourites amongst eco-conscious sneakerheads the world over.
Oliver Cabell Sneakers Quality - Material & Durability
Almost all Oliver Cabell shoes are made with leather and Margom rubber from Marche, Italy, and the company specifies its leather is 100% ethically sourced.
To produce its leather sneakers, Oliver Cabell relies upon the finest 3oz full grain leather and suede, ethically sourced from Marche, Italy and tanned in Vicenza, Italy. The tannery has won international awards for the quality of its leathers as well as its high ethical and environmental standards.
Margom rubber soles are generally regarded to be the highest quality outsoles you can use for a sneaker, which is why Oliver Cabell uses them for all of its trainers.
Through constant ecological impact assessments, Oliver Cabell ensures that every material involved in its shoemaking process – from premium leather to vegan corn-based leather and even bamboo laces – is ethically and sustainably sourced. Its shoes are meticulously-made according to traditional European shoemaking methods to ensure durability and longevity, so you won't have to continuously replace them.

Koio Review
Koio Brand History and Origin
KOIO is on a mission to bringing old-world luxury into the digital era. Constructed in Italy with the finest calfskin leathers and hand-finished, each pair of KOIO sneakers is crafted over a period of four hours by expert artisans.
Founded in 2015 by Wharton graduates Johannes Quodt and Chris Wichert, the brand takes a modern approach to sell its highest-quality, Italian-made footwear. What is interesting is that Direct channels make up 90 percent of its business: The brand’s online store books a majority of the sales.
In addition to the web platform, KOIO operates store locations in New York, Miami, Chicago, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. The brand aims to become the leading modern footwear luxury brand, driven by rigorous demand analysis, dedication to craftsmanship, and elevated aesthetics.
Koio Sneakers Prices
While they're not cheap, Koio shoes instead range from about $180 to $300 — unless you count the extremely adorable Baby Koios, which retail for $78.
Koio Sneakers Design & Style
Koio brings together modern design, sustainable Italian craftsmanship, and unparalleled comfort to create luxurious footwear for everyday wear. Koios are designed to look refined when dressed up with tailoring, and feel cool when paired back with denim.
If you're purely in it for style, Koio is a great choice. The brand works with seasoned designers who have experience working for high-fashion names like Balenciaga and Gucci — so expect looks that are just as trendy as they are timeless.
If you're looking for a pair that is not just fashionable, but functional, Koio is still a winner. From our experience, they're really comfortable, made with high-quality leather that lasts, and they're easy to clean — making them easy to wear for just about any occasion.
Koio Sneakers Quality - Material & Durability
Koio manufactures all of its sneakers in Marche, Italy. When I say “all,” I mean every bit. From the leather and soles down to the shoe boxes, everything comes from the region surrounding Marche. Each pair of shoes is hand-finished, so the brand prides itself on the craftspeople it employs, as well as how it treats them.
KOIO uses a custom Margom sole for the Capri, which is 3mm thick and has more of a contour at the tip of the toe. To be honest, we probably wouldn’t have noticed the contoured toe, but the contrast was noticeable when comparing the KOIO Capri to the Oliver Cabell Low 1. The Margom sole on the KOIO Capri is a half centimeter thicker than the sole on the Low 1 (a big bonus for comfort and durability), and we think that contour helps a lot to make the Capri a better proportioned sneaker.
As for construction and material quality, KOIO takes the cake. As we said, the leather grain is quite tight, so it makes the creases subtle and distinguished, rather than looking like gashes through the toe-box.
But the brand also goes the extra mile to attach several pieces of leather around the heel to keep that delicate seam secure.

Common Projects Review
Common Projects Brand History and Origin
Common Projects is a luxury footwear brand founded by Prathan Poopat and Flavio Girolami in 2004. Though the brand primarily operates out of New York City, its operations are based in two locations, with design and business operations taking place in the US, and production taking place in Italy.
Poopat and Girolami founded their brand after searching for a pair of premium casual shoes that would feel luxurious to wear without sacrificing any style or timeless appeal. They challenged a luxury footwear factory in Italy to create this shoe – supposedly the first sneaker that factory had ever created – and the end result was a completely unbranded sneaker not dissimilar to an adidas Stan Smith or Puma Gazelle. This shoe became known as the Achilles.
Since that time, Common Projects’ product range as massively expanded, and their line now includes silhouettes inspired by basketball, tennis and running models, as well as footwear essentials such as Chelsea boots, desert boots and loafers. In 2009, the brand has also expanded into womenswear, offering their most popular models such as the Achilles and Chelsea boot in women’s sizes.
Common Projects Sneakers Prices
Common Projects sneakers have a higher price tag which run $430 to $520 for a pair.
Common Projects Sneakers Design & Style
Common Projects combines utilitarian design with Italian quality and construction, resulting in pieces with a sleek, minimal aesthetic. Their trainers are a cult-favourite, a must-have for the modern man.
Inspired by a plethora of casual sneakers, Common Projects was created to bridge the gap between sporting and luxury footwear with their first collection, “Achilles by Common Projects,” consisting of nothing more than a low-top leather sneaker in three color options -this model would go on to become one of their most revered silhouettes.
What is special about Common Projects? The Common Projects Achilles features its signature gold labeling across the heel portion of the upper. These 10 golden digits on the upper distinguish the model number through the first four integers, the European shoe size via the next two numbers and lastly the color code on the final four. These days, Common Projects continues to thrive by releasing revered footwear models in both men's and women's sizing.
Common Projects Sneakers Quality - Material & Durability
Common Projects footwear models are known for their clean aesthetic, classic lines and Italian craftsmanship. The use of premium materials on very simple and wearable silhouettes allowed Common Projects to carve a lane between classic sportswear and high fashion.
All of Common Projects' shoes are factory-made in the Marche region of Italy. The main factory used to manufacture the sneakers had only been used to make leather dress shoes before Common Projects owner's Poopat and Girolami took over. All shoes are made by Italian leather and remain hand-stitched. They're worth it for the price point if you like nice leather sneaker and are going to wear them all the time.
Common Projects sneakers have a higher price tag because they are handcrafted in Italy with the best materials. They go through quality checks to make sure they meet the brand’s high standards. Additionally, Common Projects values ethical manufacturing, which can increase costs needed to make the shoes.

Many Axel Arigato sneakers prioritize both style and sustainability. The sole is also partially constructed from recycled rubber, further underscoring the brand’s dedication to preserving the planet.
Axel Arigato Sneakers Quality - Material & Durability
Axel Arigato products are manufactured by a small number of suppliers based in Europe and the majority of production is based in Porto. All materials are carefully chosen and the leather is a by-product of the meat industry and sourced from tanneries with environmentally good practices, certified by the Leather Working Group.
Axel Arigato sneakers use premium leather from Italy , not only for the upper and the lining but also to cover the footbed, made of foam and recyclable materials. The sneakers are a bit stiff for the first few wears out of the box but gradually softens and molds to your feet the more you use them.
For example, the Clean 90 and the Low 1 have different soles. The Low 1 uses Margom outsoles, which are renowned for the quality of their rubber. The Clean 90 uses 20% recycled rubber in its soles. Axel Arigato’s platform soles make the sneaker look clunky but are more comfortable to walk around in.
Additionally, Axel Arigato uses durable canvas, reinforced with leather and suede trims. This not only adds to the urbanity of the sneaker but also ensures longevity and resilience.
