Real reviews of the most recommended food processors

1. Cuisinart Custom 14-Cup Food Processor

Cuisinart is pretty much the gold standard when it comes to classic food processors, and it was actually the first brand to make and sell a food processor in the United States.

Known for the effectiveness and durability of their food processors, Cuisinart has many models, but the most recommended is this 14-cup model.

If you are not willing to pay such a high price for a high-end appliance with a range of accessories - the Breville Sous Chef 12 Cup Food Processor, then the Cuisinart Custom 14 is the best choice for you. Cuisinart is $70 cheaper than Breville.

This reliable kitchen appliance was recognized for its superior performance in most tests while offering excellent value at a more reasonable price than some of the highest-end models.

It grates semi-hard and hard cheeses easily and efficiently, pulls dough together (although it doesn't have a dedicated blade), and slices tomatoes without destroying them.

The Cuisinart does a great job at the core function of a food processor, from chopping to shredding. Many other cheap food processors could imitate Cuisinart but focus on offering too many crappy add-ons to attract consumers because of poor performance. It's nice to know that Cuisinart isn't distracted by trying to emulate its many misguided competitors.

If you've ever complained that your food processor bowl is too small to hold a recipe, then you'll understand the appeal of the Cuisinart Custom 14 14-Cup Food Processor. The most common food processors have 8-cup and 10-cup capacities, but Cuisinart's 14-cup bowl is large enough for home cooking and features an extra-large feed tube with large and small pushers, so you won’t need to cut ingredients to make them fit.

The brushed stainless steel food processor has two large paddle buttons, one for "on" and one for "off/pulse," making it simple to use without worrying about confusing settings.

The Cuisinart 14-Cup Food Processor is the quietest in operation, producing only 59.2 decibels. It's powered by a 720-watt motor to quickly process even the toughest nuts and vegetables.

It comes with two disks (one for slicing and one for grating), a blade, a manual, and little else.

What's nice is that the S-shaped blade is close to the side, making it difficult for ingredients to avoid its reach.

The downside is that the slicing and shredding blades aren't adjustable, meaning you'll need to purchase additional blades if you aren't happy with the size of the included ones. Just don't expect an array of accessories or a parts caddy.

The Cuisinart 14-Cup Food Processor's S blade does the best job of blending smooth, even pizza dough, so we don't see any reason to buy a separate dough blade.

However, the Cuisinart is not as easy to use or clean as the Breville. The shredding discs traps debris, its 14-cup capacity is more than we needed for some of the recipes we used it for, it's heavy, the accessories aren't easy to store with the unit, and it's not exactly cheap.

Despite these issues, this is a perfect choice if you're looking for a great all-around food processor without cutting into your budget.

2. Ninja 9-Cup Professional Plus Food Processor

If you’re looking for a food processor that won’t take up a lot of space in your kitchen or your budget, then we highly recommend the Ninja Professional Plus Food Processor.

We're impressed with its performance, especially considering its bargain price tag, which is on sale for just $79.99.

This device really excels when it comes to shredding and slicing, producing even shreds and slices.

It mixes pizza dough well. It did have some difficulty processing hard ingredients, but overall, it did everything a food processor should do.

It can hold up to 9 cups of ingredients in its work bowl, and thoughtful design features like a locking lid and Auto-iQ preset buttons make it easy and enjoyable to use.

The bowl itself has a built-in measuring cup, which is a nice feature.

This is a great option for the average home because it's not too big or small. If you often handle large batches of food, you're probably better off opting for a higher-end model like the Cuisinart Custom 14, which has a massive 14-cup capacity. The Ninja is also one of the lighter machines, weighing in at about 7 pounds.

This food processor comes with standard accessories. It also includes a chopping blade, a reversible slicing/shredding disc, and an all-plastic dough blade.

It's got a streamlined, attractive design, a very powerful 1,000-watt motor, and four different presets in addition to its high, low, and pulse settings.

The sound is a bit loud when the appliance is running. Another drawback is that due to the slightly higher position of the chopping blade, the user may be required to scrape down the sides of the bowl more frequently.

However, this is a great option for anyone looking for a compact food processor that won't break the bank.

3. KitchenAid 13-Cup Food Processor

When it comes to countertop kitchen appliances, KitchenAid is a steadfast and trusted favorite brand. As you'd expect from KitchenAid, the food processors are available in a variety of colors.

It’s backed by a one-year limited warranty and is available in silver, white, onyx black, red and matte black.

KitchenAid 13-Cup Food Processor with Dicing Kit, KFP1319 is one of the most popular 3.1 liter food processors. It is unique in that it includes a dicing accessory, this is what differentiates it from the KFP1318, which is the same model but without the ability to dice.

In addition to the dicing accessory, you’ll get an adjustable slicing disc, reversible shredding disc, dough blade and stainless-steel chopping blade. These all slot into a storage caddy and then inside the main bowl, giving a neat and easy storage solution.

In comparison to other models, like the Cuisinart Custom 14-Cup Food Processor, which weighs 17 pounds, this 9.7-pound weight is light and makes the machine easier to pick up and move.

This machine features three large buttons that are easy to use. The buttons feature pulse, low, high, and off controls, so you’re able to change the machine’s intensity without dealing with complicated settings.

A key design element is the hinged, removable locking lid. Unlike traditional food processors, the lid simply locks on and flips open when unlocked, adding convenience without having to twist the lid on and off of the bowl. This design combines the lid and bowl into one piece, but you can remove the lid for cleaning.

Regarding performance, it performs better than most appliances on the market. It handles most foods well, slicing, chopping and dicing with ease.

The best use for a KitchenAid is making fruit purees. While all of the models in this article produced totally worthwhile hummus, this KitchenAid model is incredibly fast and makes a smoother puree than any other model, with an almost restaurant-quality texture.

While it produced consistent cheesy, even potato slices, the onion mince was so small that it almost turned into puree.

Similar to the Ninja Professional Plus food processor, the KitchenAid struggled to grate harder chocolate. And during the grating process, some chocolate will accumulate in the lid and chute.

With restrictions on the amount of beef you can grind or bread dough it can mix, this food processor is best for smaller households.

The KitchenAid 13 Cup Food Processor comes with a 500-watt motor. It operates at 75.3 dBA, making it a quieter model. The quietest model, the Cuisinart 14 Cup Custom Food Processor, only reaches 59.2 dBA, while the loudest model, the Ninja 9 Cup Professional Plus Food Processor, reaches 83.5 dBA.

If the price is a bit of a stretch, consider whether you really need the dicing accessory. If you’re willing to forego this function you can save $60 by opting for the KFP1318.

Final Verdict: Cuisinart vs. Kitchenaid vs. Ninja Food Processor: Which Is the Food Processor Champion?

The best food processor is the Cuisinart 14 Cup Food Processor.
