What does Gypsy Water EDP smell like?

The opening of Byredo Gypsy Water is simply astonishing. The dominant note is juniper berries which give the opening a natural, crisp, and clean vibe, and it's safe to say that in combination with light citrusy accord and sharpness of pepper, this is the perfect formula for a mass-appealing scent.

But it is not like your regular citrusy fragrances. It also has woody notes to it, which makes it very different from other citrusy perfumes.

Pine needle is the most dominant so the scent truly reminds of walking through the first.

It settles down to a little powdery fragrance with hints of vanilla. It is not a very feminine or girly scent. It is soft but not a masculine one either. Both men and women can wear it, and pull it off without any trouble.

Review: Housed in the brand's instantly recognisable, incrrredibly chic and simple - yet quintessentially luxe - monochrome bottles, BYREDO's Gypsy Water Eau de Parfum has quickly become a firm favourite in any respectable fragrance-ophile's collection and regular guest on their Instagram grid too.

Gypsy Water would be suitable for just about anyone to wear. It definitely suits day wear more than night as it would get lost in a bar or soiree type environment. But for a light, daytime, Spring scent you could do a lot worse. Will you fall head over heels for it? Possibly not. But you might just like it enough to take it for a picnic in the park and to meet your friends.

Pros:

Casual but not boring

Lovely and easy to wear

Natural and soft scent

Beautiful combination of woods and vanilla

Great for outdoor occasions

Cons:

High price tag

Doesn't last long enough on the skin

  • BYREDO Bal d'Afrique Eau de Parfum Review

Official Price: $205 - $290

Gender: Unisex

Scent Type: Amber Woody

Top Notes: Amalfi Lemon, Tagetes, Black Currant, Bergamot and African Orange Flower

Middle Notes: Violet, Cyclamen and Jasmine

Base Note: Vetiver, Musk, Amber and Virginia Cedar

How Long Does Bal d'Afrique EDP Last?

7-10 Hours.

What Does Bal d'Afrique EDP Smell Like?

With unique top notes of earthy bucchu, spicy-musky African marigold and zesty bergamot, lemon and neroli, the fragrance’s sweet heart of cyclamen, jasmine petals and violet is perfectly counterbalanced – dancing atop a heady base of black amber, Moroccan cedarwood, musk and vetiver.

Bal d'Afrique's aromatics dance begins with neroli, lemon, a smidgen of marigold, and a punch of "raw" cedar. The cyclamen note provides a touch of clean "water" to the "sweaty" cedar and leads to Bal d'Afrique's amber-y, musk-y dry-down. Vetiver "jitters" from one phase of Bal d'Afrique to the next and keeps the composition buoyant. Bal d'Afrique is rich, but not heavy; it's warm without being stifling. Bal d'Afrique smells sexy but it doesn't take sexiness too seriously; there's something fun about the fragrance.

Bal D'Afrique has a happy, carefree, outgoing, go- getter personality; if this perfume were to become a person, it's your chic, well- traveled tita with no kids, lives a pretty good life (not rich, but lives a good life), always up for coffee and wine with friends any moment she gets because it's either she's never home or always busy, can engage in the most trivial to the most complex conversations, and always the one who remembers her nephews and nieces, and sends them giant gifts on their birthdays and Christmas.

Review: Bal D'Afrique is a cheerful, summery, sunny fragrance. It has a warm glow to it and wearing it is a bit like sunbathing.

Bal D'Afrique isn't slanted particularly at a male or female audience and it is one of those great scents that we can imagine truly suiting people of any gender. Some skin chemistries will emphasise the woody and bitter notes, whilst others will accentuate the citrus and florals.

Pros:

Beautiful everyday scent

Perfect blend of fruitiness, sweetness, and florals

Works well in any season

Pleasant and fresh opening

Long lasting

Cons:

Overpriced

Does not work for those who dislike woods or fruits

  • BYREDO Mojave Ghost Eau de Parfum Review

02.jpg

Source:neimanmarcus.com

Official Price: $205 - $290

Gender: Unisex

Scent Type: Amber Floral

Top Notes: Sapodilla and Ambrette (Musk Mallow)

Middle Notes: Magnolia, Violet and Sandalwood

Base Note: Ambergris and Cedar

How Long Mojave Ghost EDP Last?

6-8 Hours.

What Does Mojave Ghost EDP Smell Like?

Allure and enthral with Byredo Mojave Ghost Eau de Parfum, a tantalising scent that utilises the exotic scent of the ghost flower, from the Mojave Desert. The ghost flower is a rare genus that grows in the wilderness of the desert with an intense aroma.

Byredo Mojave Ghost Eau de Parfum begins to embody this beguiling plant with top notes of ambrette that deepen and intensify with violet, magnolia and sandalwood for a coalescing of woodiness and floral aromas. Base notes are formed with a bewitching mix of crisp amber, chantilly musk and cedarwood, forming a picture of the illustrious ghost flower.

What made this fragrance so special is the brightness and lightness that it carries along the way. The sweet notes, such as sapodilla, magnolia, and violet, give this perfume a flowery effect that is very easily validated right with the first spray. Even though sapodilla is not mentioned in the notes pyramid, it can clearly be sensed.

The significant difference that separates Mojave Ghost from other flowery scents is a momentous touch of woodiness (especially coming from cedarwood) that is not so strong, but it is still present and it fills up the missing flick of this alluring fragrance.

Review: Despite this being a fragrance primarily composed of musk, wood and amber, this fragrance is most appropriate for spring and summer and perhaps very early fall. This scent has a warmth to it, not in a vanilla and spice way that is very common in a lot of winter fragrances, but in a way that evokes the warm of the sun as it heats up the skin. This is a fragrance that will get buried under layers of clothing and will perform best on exposed skin and lighter fabrics.

It's up there with Bal D’Afrique in terms of….it's just kind of nice for anyone and everyone and most people tend to think it smells pretty damn good. It's not 'out there', it won't divide opinion, it won't blow anyone's socks off : this is a beautiful and gentle scent that is perfect for understated occasions.

Pros:

Elegant and lovely aroma

Comforting and relaxing smell

Great for summer and spring use

Has pretty wide versatility

Cons:

Expensive niche fragrance

May be too light or boring for some
