Electrolit vs. Gatorade vs. Powerade vs. Pedialyte: Who Wins the Sports Drink Brand Showdown?
Electrolit beverage brand has become very popular recently

Electrolit Hydration Beverage recently launched a new pineapple flavor, joining the global brand's current range of 16 powerful hydration beverages.
This new flavor combines natural pineapple flavor with the brand's signature electrolyte formula and will have us enjoying a summer refreshment.
So what is Electrolit?
Electrolit – the preferred, premium hydration beverage made from pharmaceutical quality grade ingredients – was founded in 1950 in Mexico with the purpose of supporting individuals recovering from illness.
Electrolit is manufactured and owned by Pisa Pharmaceuticals, the largest pharmaceutical company in Latin America. Due to the popularity of the product in Mexico, Pisa created CAB Enterprises in the US in 2014 and started selling Electrolit in the US.
Formulated with magnesium, potassium, calcium, sodium glucose, and sodium lactate plus six ions for electrolyte absorption, Electrolit aids in recovery of the hydro electrolytic imbalance, fulfilling metabolic and hydration needs.
Its unique formula, great taste and variety of flavours have positioned the product as the preferred premium hydration beverage for children and adults.
Electrolit brand is already a top-two product in select markets, including convenience stores in California and Texas, with other states like Florida gaining traction.
Electrolit continues to grow their national footprint and will extend their Zero line to select current retailers, including 7-11, HEB, AMPM, among others. Electrolit can also be purchased at Walmart, Kroger, and more, and through online channels. For more information, visit https://electrolit.com/ or follow them on Instagram or Facebook.
Every bottle is carefully constructed in a state-of-the-art facility with a fully automated and integrated manufacturing process. With such, Electrolit seeks to make premium-grade hydration accessible and suitable for consumers across the nation.

Electrolit vs. Gatorade vs. Powerade vs. Pedialyte: Who Wins the Sports Drink Brand Showdown?
Short on time? Powerade is the best best sports drink on this list!
This is the sports drink that was developed for athletes like you—to not only keep you in the game, but on top of your game.
How to choose a sports drink?
Judging by the nutritional information, the answer to which sports drink is best for me seems to be a choice between needing more carbohydrates or not!
So, what are carbohydrates good for?
Carbohydrates are the main source of energy for the body and the preferred source of energy for the brain.
Carbohydrates are broken down by the body into glucose; glucose is used as fuel by the body's cells, tissues, and organs.
When your body doesn't get enough carbohydrates, it looks for another energy source, breaking down muscle protein and body fat for energy.
Athletes need to replenish their body's carbohydrate stores, especially during intense training or competition.
Consuming carbohydrates during workouts lasting over one hour can also benefit performance and delay onset of fatigue.
So if you exercise frequently, train for long periods of time, and compete in interval sports like basketball or soccer, then you need a carbohydrate-rich diet or drink.
In addition, the carbohydrates contained in beverages are usually sugar. Sugar can also provide sweetness to nutrient-dense beverages and help enhance positive flavors or mask negative ones, so the product is easy to drink.
Who doesn't need too many carbs?
It's great to know that carbohydrates are your body's energy source, but drinking large amounts of carbohydrate-rich beverages is not healthy.
For most people, excessive carbohydrate intake places a large metabolic load on the body. Over time, this can lead to weight gain, acne breakouts, poor metabolic health and an increased risk of heart disease and high blood pressure.
Also, it's best to get your carbohydrates from whole foods rather than added sugars like sucrose.
So sports enthusiasts who need carbohydrates and calories, please choose in the first echelon: Gatorade vs. Powerade.
Healthy people who don’t want too many extra carbohydrates and calories in addition to diet, please choose in the second echelon: Electrolit vs. Pedialyte.
(1) Gatorade vs. Powerade: How Are They Different?
Electrolyte:
Potassium and sodium are the main electrolytes you get through sports drinks. Each serving of Gatorade contains 80 mg of potassium and 270 mg of sodium. Powerade has 60 milligrams of potassium and 250 milligrams of sodium, which gives Gatorade a slight edge in this comparison.
But Powerade adds two extra electrolytes that aren't commonly seen, and that's because Powerade is equipped with the unique ION4 Advanced Electrolyte System that helps replace the four electrolytes lost when you sweat: sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium.
So in terms of effectiveness, the two electrolyte drinks are pretty much the same in terms of performance enhancement.
Sugar:
When looking at the sugar content of its main products, Powerade and Gatorade are neck and neck. They contain 35 grams and 34 grams of sugar, respectively, which provide carbohydrates for energy, so they are about the same in improving exercise endurance.
Powerade uses high fructose corn syrup and Gatorade uses sucrose and dextrose. Both drinks are high in sugar and may not be healthy for people who don't exercise a lot or for a short period of time.
The Biggest Difference: Supplementing B Vitamins
POWERADE also contains vitamins B3, B6 and B12. In contrast, Gatorade does not contain any vitamins, including B3, B6, and B12.
The B vitamins help enzymes in our bodies do their jobs and are important for a wide range of cellular functions, like breaking down carbohydrates and transporting nutrients throughout the body.
In addition to supporting energy metabolism and helping reduce fatigue, these B vitamins play an interrelated role in keeping our brains functioning properly.
Pricing:
In terms of price, Gatorade vs. Powerade doesn't seem to have a clear winner either. Eight bottles of Powerade now cost $6.12 at Walmart, while eight bottles of Gatorade cost $6.48. Although Gatorade's thirst-quenching sports drink originally costs $7.86, the price disadvantage is not obvious.
Flavor:
If you want to try something different, Gatorade definitely has an edge over Powerade in terms of the number of flavors.
Second, Powerade uses high fructose corn syrup as a sweetener, which is much sweeter than sugar. So Powerade is usually sweeter than Gatorade in taste tests.
(2) Electrolit vs. Pedialyte: How Are They Different?
In the same amount of sports drinks, compared to Gatorade vs. Powerade, which has up to 35 grams of sugar, Electrolit vs. Pedialyte has a maximum sugar content of only 25 grams.
So for those who want some carbs and calories, they'll want to choose between Electrolit vs. Pedialyte, since their sugar content isn't that scary after all.
Calories, carbohydrates and sugar :
Calories | Carbs (grams) | Sugar (grams)
Electrolit
| (500 mL) | 104 | 25 | 25 |
Pedialyte | (500 mL) | 62.5 | 16 | 12.5 |
Electrolit is higher in calories, carbohydrates and sugar than Pedialyte; this makes Electrolit more focused on sports drinks; while Pedialyte has become a hydration alternative to sports drinks for some athletes.
Electrolit vs. Pedialyte both contain glucose which is absorbed quickly.
Electrolit is there to keep you going in the heat, after the party for hangover recovery, and post workout.
Electrolyte:
Sodium (milligrams) | Potassium (milligrams) | Magnesium (milligrams) | Additional nutrients
Electrolit | (500 mL) | 333 | 395 | 20 | Calcium 35mg |
Pedialyte | (500 mL) | 513 | 388 | Zinc 3.8mg Chloride 611mg |
Potassium and sodium are the main electrolytes you get from sports drinks. Each 500ml of Electrolit contains 395mg potassium and 333mg sodium. Pedialyte contains 388 mg potassium and 513 mg sodium.
Pedialyte is known and proud of its high performance. Although the body needs sodium to conduct nerve impulses, contract and relax muscles, and maintain a proper balance of water and minerals.
But high sodium intake can raise blood pressure. It is estimated that we need about 500 mg of sodium per day to maintain these important functions.
But the Electrolit adds two uncommon extra electrolytes, and like the Powerade. Formulated with magnesium, potassium, calcium, sodium glucose, and sodium lactate plus six ions for electrolyte absorption, Electrolit aids in recovery of the hydro electrolytic imbalance, fulfilling metabolic and hydration needs.
So, in terms of efficacy, Pedialyte electrolyte drinks are slightly better at improving physical performance, but may contain more electrolytes than our daily needs.
Extra minerals:
Pedialyte also contains chloride, a mineral involved in many of our bodily functions. Like sodium and potassium, they play an important role in keeping the balance of our bodies’ fluids (thus, helping to regulate our blood pressure) as well as the pH.
Another feature unique to Pedialyte is that it includes zinc. This is particularly important if you have a child with excessive diarrhea.
In diarrhea and cholera, reduced water and electrolyte absorption is due to zinc deficiency. Therefore, zinc has an important role in recovery from the symptoms.
Zinc supplementation reduces the mean duration of acute diarrhea by approximately 20% and the mean duration of persistent diarrhea by 15-30%.
This makes Pedialyte similar to the rehydration fluids used by the World Health Organization (WHO).
Pricing:
In terms of price, Electrolit vs. Pedialyte are both at the premium end of the sports drink market.
The Pedialyte electrolyte drink is priced at $5.44 a liter, or $2.72 for two bottles. That's 1.5 times more expensive than Gatorade, which is less than $1.
At $2.54 a bottle, the Electrolit hydration drink is only slightly cheaper than the Pedialyte.
Final verdict, which electrolyte drink is the best?
In my opinion, the best sports drink on this list is Powerade!
Powerade is a sports drink created and sold by the Coca-Cola Company. Its primary competitor is Gatorade, owned by PepsiCo.
Despite its high sugar content, it contains four electrolytes that help replace those lost when you sweat: sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium.
Powerade even contains vitamins B3, B6 and B12 to support energy metabolism and reduce fatigue.
And a sports drink with so many nutrients for a fraction of the price deserves the hype!
Gatorade is the classic and most famous sports drink. It has too much flavor and tastes a bit sweet, but not as sweet as Powerade. It's not expensive either, it just doesn't include B vitamins.
For people with diarrhea, the zinc content in Pedialyte is valuable, but the price is a bit expensive.
And everyone can drink Electrolit, which is high in sodium, potassium, and other minerals, but has less sugar than Gatorade. Like Pedialyte, it's expensive, but it's rapidly growing to become the third largest sports drink in the world!
