Knockaround Sunglasses Review

Knockaround Brand History

The company was founded by Adam 'Ace' Moyer in 2005 while he was attending the University of California, San Diego as a graduate art student. Initially started in Moyer's studio apartment, Knockaround is now headquartered in downtown San Diego.

Knockaround makes its products available through its website. The company's initial product line consisted of wayfarer-style sunglasses available in eight different colors. Over the next several years, Knockaround added a number of additional models to its lineup, such as higher-quality spring-hinge sunglasses, an aviator-style model, and a model that is 53% plant-based. An ongoing limited edition series introduced in 2010 offers sunglasses in previously unreleased color combinations with themed packaging, produced in limited quantities.

And since mid-2011, customers can choose the colors of different components of their sunglasses on the "Custom" section of the website. In 2015, Knockaround released a new Premium style frame while still keeping the original Premium style frame on the site. These original Premiums were renamed to "Classics".

Official Price

Most Knockaround sunglasses go for only $28 a pair. Some select ones can go for $34.

Knockaround’s pricing is more consistent, with a wide range of styles available at the same affordable price point.

Material & Technology

Knockaround sunglasses offer both standard lenses or polarized lenses., with their polarized lenses providing similar benefits to Goodr’s.

Standard lenses are regular lenses. They are the same throughout and simply filter UV rays. These types of lenses are ideal for everyday wear in the sun.3

Knockaround Sunglasses Designs

Knockaround sunglasses have a more classic and versatile design that can suit various styles, with bold colors and patterns that make a statement. If you compare style, I have to say that Knockaround sunglasses are more stylish, and will suit you. For example, you can take a look at their metal-framed Mount Evans sunglasses, and see the classic design. Knockaround’s Fort Knocks are also very stylish sunglasses that youngsters love.

Blenders Sunglasses Review

Blenders Brand History

Blenders is an eyewear company based out of San Diego, California. The founder, Chase Fisher, was inspired to create his own sunglasses after receiving comments on his neon green pair at a nightclub.

With a little bit of research, he noticed there was a gap in the market for mid-range sunglasses that were cool and affordable. After a small start selling his shades out of a backpack while working as a surf coach, he has gone on to see his creations worn from coast to coast.

The glasses are branded with their two stripe signature logo which represents their motto: Life in Forward Motion. This brand is not dull. They have daring designs and they seek to be a symbol of passion and progress. Like professional athletes, Blenders Eyewear seek to be a reminder of where you are now and where you aspire to be.

You can also find sleeves, cases, and cords in the accessory section. There are beanies and facemasks as well for people that like to snowboard.

The Blenders Eclipse frame we tested came with a Polarized Blue and Red Mirror lens rated to protect from 100% UV rays. It features crisp optics and boosted contrast, an excellent choice for medium to bright light.

The Eclipse frame feels well constructed and of robust quality. The hinges are screwed and make solid clicks in and out of place. Blenders don't specify the exact frame material of the polycarbonate frame. Still, the material has some ability to contort and flex, which feels reassuring if one were to crash in these.

Blenders Sunglasses Designs

Blenders Sunglasses are chock full of candy-colored frames and neon lenses in all kinds of shapes and materials.

Pairs like Atomic Candy and Planet Nine are perfectly in step with the brand’s signature style, but they have your classic black shades too. You can even buy glasses with any number of extra features like:
