Chips Ahoy vs. Oreo vs. Famous Amos vs. Chips More: Who Makes the NO. 1 Cookies Brand?

Chips Ahoy vs. Oreo vs. Famous Amos vs. Chips More: Who Makes the NO. 1 Cookies Brand?

The chocolate chip cookie is one of the most popular types of cookies, at least in North America. Chocolate chip cookies were invented in Whitman, Massachusetts around 1938. Chefs Ruth Jones Graves Wakefield and Sue Brides chopped up a Nestlé semisweet chocolate bar and added the chunks to a cookie recipe. Today, a chocolate chip cookie recipe typically consists of flour, butter, brown sugar, white sugar, eggs, semisweet chocolate chips, and vanilla. There's no shortage of packaged chocolate chip cookies at the supermarket, but some are definitely superior to others.

Chips Ahoy vs. Chips More: Are They the Same?

Yes, Chips Ahoy! and Chips More! have the same cookie, almost the same packaging design, the main difference is the name!

Chips Ahoy! is an American chocolate chip cookie brand, baked and marketed by Nabisco, a subsidiary of Mondelez International, that debuted in 1963.

Chips Ahoy! is widely sold in the United States, Latin America, South Africa, Canada, India, Spain, Portugal, China, Indonesia, Taiwan, Mauritius, United Kingdom and many more regions.

In some markets, it has a different name. For example, in Latin America, the product is called "Choco Chips". In other markets, such as in Malaysia, Chips Ahoy are sold as  "Chips More".

There are also different packaging options in some markets than in the US. It is marketed in varieties of 1 ounce (28 g) mini-sized cookie packages to around 48 ounces (1,400 g) packages of standard-sized cookies.

Chips Ahoy vs Oreo: Which cookie is the most tempting?

What is the best-selling cookie in the world? Oreo cookies.

Since the brand’s inception in 1912, more than 450 billion Oreo cookies have been sold around the world, and are now available in more than 100 countries.

The traditional flavor (chocolate wafers with vanilla cream filling) is by far the most popular, but many other flavors have been produced over the past century such as birthday cake, java chip and caramel coconut.

Oreo dominates the pre-packaged cookie market with a whopping 83% of Gen Z-ers who regularly or occasionally snack on cookies choosing Oreo as one of their favorite brands.

But one thing that just about everyone disagrees on is the best way to eat an Oreo. Some people like to bite into the cookie like a sandwich, while others lift the top off and eat both halves separately. Some people will not eat an Oreo unless there’s a glass of milk nearby for dipping, while others happily munch on an Oreo without a beverage.

With slogans like 'Oh-oh! Oreo' and 'Milk's favourite cookie', the name Oreo is never far from one's mind when it comes to the thought of tasty tea-time treats.

Oreo cookies are the best-selling sandwich cookie, but many people also love chocolate chip cookies Chips Ahoy!

Chips Ahoy or Oreo: How are they different?

#1. Visible Chocolate

One of the things that makes Chips Ahoy visually appealing is its deliciously flavorful chocolate chips. Unlike Oreos, Chips Ahoy adds "real" semi-sweet chocolate chips to the biscuits, so there's a distinct satisfaction for those craving chocolate and feeling the premium chocolate makes it worth the money.

However, Oreos come with two chocolate wafers, which some people think don't taste like real chocolate.

#2. Substance And Texture

If you're looking for a cookie with more substance, crunchy or chewy and embedded with other treats, look no further than Chips Ahoy.

Chips Ahoy contains any substance that Oreos don't.

Chips that are thick enough allow them to insert treats like chocolate chips, peanut butter cups, and jelly beans in cookies.

Chips Ahoy will be harder to eat, but the texture is even in each bite.

Oreos offer a light, thin wafer cookie, but lack the substance of Chips Ahoy. Not every bite of the cream sandwich can be eaten in just the right amount.

#3. With Milk

Overwhelming advertising makes us mistakenly think that the cookie that goes best with milk is an Oreo. I would say that experience tells me otherwise.

Chips Ahoy paired with a glass of milk creates a sort of dynamic duo.

They combined into a complementary perfection; the cookie stays crunchy and the glass of milk has a hint of chocolate. But even so, when comparing the two, Oreos seem to be the less prone to dunking cookies; if dunked, Oreos crumble quickly, leaving a granular type texture of particles in the bottom of the glass, and Oreos on your hands  will also become soft.

And if that wasn't bad enough, Oreos can leave tiny black particles on your teeth, which can cause embarrassment in public.

So, the winner of the milk-soaked cookie I think is Chips Ahoy, because the texture is better preserved, and it's a treat to eat instead of eating a grainy texture milkshake.

#4. Which is healthier, Chips Ahoy or Oreos?

Oreos have around 14g of total sugar per serving, or 4.7g of sugar per cookie. About 60% of that sugar is found in the cream—the rest is in the chocolate wafers.

The original Chips Ahoy! cookies still contain 11 grams of sugar per serving.

Each regular Oreo has about 58 calories. The cream of an Oreo has more calories than the wafers. The cream has about 36 calories per cookie, and the chocolate wafers have 22 calories.

Chips Ahoy brand chocolate chip cookies contain 160 calories in each three-cookie serving.

Both Chips Ahoy and Oreos are high in sugar, fat and calories. Therefore, none of them can be called a healthy snack because they may lead to serious health problems such as diabetes, obesity, and heart disease. However, you can avoid harmful effects by using them in moderation.

If there is a winner, Chips Ahoy is theoretically the "healthier" snack.

#5. Flavors And Tastes

When it comes to flavor creativity, Oreo is a clear winner, releasing a series of limited editions every now and then.

Limited-edition runs usually feature a crème filling that has been flavored to replicate the taste of a specific fruit or dessert, from familiar flavors such as lemon or mint, to the more specific and unusual flavors of blueberry pie or red velvet cake.

Chips Ahoy also has a lot of flavor, but not as much as Oreo.

The focus of Oreo is the black biscuit, which is really delicious, and it has become extremely popular because of the addition of various Internet celebrity desserts.

But I have to say that Oreo's sandwich is really a failure. The biscuit itself is a bit dark chocolate flavored, but the sandwich is extremely sweet, and the impact of the combination of the two is really strong.

I am a person who likes high-sweet snacks, but I will feel unspeakably greasy after eating half a bag of Oreo, no matter what flavor its sandwich is.

I think the better Oreo is the birthday cake flavor, thanks to the colorful candy bars in the sandwich.

But Chips Ahoy doesn't have the problem of sandwich. The taste of the whole biscuit is relatively uniform, and the chocolate chips are a surprise.

Oreo is too sweet for me, I prefer Chips Ahoy, and I think Chips Ahoy is delicious, because chocolate chips bring sweetness and flavor, while cookies bring crunch and balance. After eating Oreo, the teeth are dark and the chocolate taste is not so strong.

However, I think Oreo is more popular with children because it is more crunchy, and children always like the sweet taste. So if you have children in your family, you can give him Oreos in moderation as a gift.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Battle: Best Off-Brand Chips Ahoy You Can Buy and Try

Chips Ahoy! Original Chocolate Chip Cookies

CHIPS AHOY! Original Chocolate Chip Cookies, 13 oz

I've always been a fan of Chips Ahoy.

When you’re shopping for the best store-bought chocolate chip cookies, you’re not always craving that homemade feeling. Sometimes, you just want a cookie that reminds you of after-school snacks and study break sweets. If that’s the case, snag the classic: Chips Ahoy! Chocolate Chip Cookies.

Chips Ahoy! Original chocolate chip cookies have been on the market since 1963, and they've definitely been a staple in plenty of household pantries ever since.

While someone said these cookies best: "Definitely don't look or taste homemade, but they're plain good." For many of us, that's the packaged treats we're looking for.

The cookie is crisp without any burnt flavor, and there are plenty of chocolate chips scattered around to melt in your mouth with each bite.

This childhood favorite offers the ideal crunch in a thick cookie. The cookies were lightly golden brown with some crinkles, and they were thicker than the Tate's or Pepperidge Farm cookies.

It's not quite as buttery as some other options, but Chips Ahoy! forever remains a great classic for dunking in a glass of milk.

There is a good chocolate-to-cookie ratio, too. Each of these cookies is a nice size and the right amount of sweetness.

The taste is nice and sweet, but not too sweet.

Famous Amos Belgian Chocolate Chip Cookies

In 1975, Wally Amos, a talent agent turned baker, introduced Americans to "gourmet" cookies, with a rich chewy taste not found in packaged cookies stocked on grocery store shelves.

The Famous Amos Chocolate Chip Cookie quickly became famous, with many people "raving about the delicious little cookie".

These days, Famous Amos Wonders from the World bite-sized cookies are made with premium ingredients from around the globe, including Belgian chocolate, Mediterranean hazelnuts, Philippine coconut, and British salted caramel.

Along with appreciating the brand's unusual flavor variety, we really liked the Belgian chocolate chip cookies.

That said, the chocolate was actually quite pleasant. And there was obviously some appeal to them being bite-sized.

But for some, the strong vanilla flavor and sugary aftertaste might be too much, and the chips are unevenly distributed.

I did notice a somewhat dry, crumbly texture, but that didn't stop my friends from eating more. If you really like your cookies to have a crunchy texture, Famous Amos is for you.

I just wish they were less drying. Like, they absolutely need to be served with a gallon of milk.

They are not as buttery as some well-known brands, so the taste is medium.
