AYN Odin Lite vs. Pro vs. Loki vs. Loki Zero: Design
All models make use of a responsive, 6-inch 1080p touchscreen, encased in a shell very much like the Nintendo Switch Lite. You’ve got clickable asymmetrical analogue sticks, stacked shoulder buttons and analogue triggers – important for, say, gently easing off the gas in a driving game. There's also Y, X, B and A face buttons and a comfortable and responsive D-Pad that’s reminiscent of the excellent one found in a PS Vita.
There are also additional buttons (Odin Lite & Pro have two; Loki & Loki Zero have four) that sit where your fingers would grip the device – presumably the plan is for a firmware update that will let you configure these as hotkeys. A power button sits on the top edge, alongside a volume rocker.
The Odin has flourishes of its own – there’s a slight curvature to where you grip the handheld, making it infinitely more comfortable than the flat Nintendo Switch Lite, and there is also blue LED lighting that illuminates the control sticks and edges of the device. The lighting is unique in handhelds, and arguably a bit superfluous – but it can be toggled off or on to your preferences, so it’s not intrusive.
Ayn offers three different toggleable clock speeds for the device (Standard, Performance and High Performance) and three fan speeds (an auto-adjusting Smart, as well as a Quiet and a high-speed Sport option). You’ll rarely ever have to go beyond the Standard and Smart options, but the tinkerer looking for the smoothest gameplay from a demanding Android title like Genshin Impact, for instance, has the ability to squeeze a few more frames from the device without dangerously overclocking – and overheating – the handheld.
As for ports, charging and data transfer is handled by a USB-C port on the bottom of the Odin (only a USB-C cable comes in the box, so you’ll have to supply your own power adapter), and there’s a 3.5mm headphone jack on the underside too. You’ll find a pop-out flap on the top edge that gives you access to the microSD card slot, and next to that is a mini HDMI output port for connecting to an external screen or TV.
AYN Odin Lite vs. Pro vs. Loki vs. Loki Zero: Performance
The Odin Lite is powered by a Mediatek Dimensity D900 processor. Given the Lite name, one would be forgiven for assuming that the D900 is a diminutive chip, but it turns out this MediaTek processor is no slouch in the performance department either. The D900 has a more balanced multi-core approach, featuring two 2.4 GHz high performance cores, and six 2.0 GHz cores. It's Mali-G68 MC4 GPU actually has a small leg up on the Snapdragon, running at a respectable 900 MHz. The Dimensity line of processors were originally created primarily for use in LG smartphones, and wouldn't you know, LG got out of the smartphone industry a few years ago. AYN was able to procure these processors for a notably lower price, and was able to create the Lite as a result. The D900 isn't quite up to SD845 levels of performance, and the emulator ecosystem doesn't have the same level of software optimizations, but it frankly blows away the competition when compared to other handhelds in its price range.
Meanwhile, Odin Pro is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845. The Snapdragon line is well respected in the world of mobile processors, and is frequently used in Samsung smartphones. The 845 is a few years old at this point, but it still has some impressive specs. It has four 2.8 GHz high performance cores, as well as four 1.8 GHz lower performance cores. On the graphics side of things, the 845 features an Adreno 630 GPU, clocked at 787 MHz. The Snapdragon also comes with a few intangible benefits. Qualcomm's processors are well known in the mobile computing space, and their quirks are thoroughly documented. Emulator developers have been specifically targeting Snapdragon chips for years, so the Odin Pro benefits from some software-side optimization.
The standard model of AYN Loki comes with a Ryzen 5 6600U in three storage variants, 64GB, 256GB, and 512GB. The AMD Ryzen 5 6600U is a 6-core mobile processor launching in January 2022. It is a member of the Ryzen 5 family and features the Zen 3+ architecture and Socket FP7. Supports AMD Simultaneous Multithreading (SMT), up to 12 threads. The Ryzen 5 6600U has 16MB of L3 cache and runs at 2.9 GHz by default, but can be boosted to 4.5 GHz depending on the workload.
The Ryzen 5 6600U is built on a 6 nm production process. With a TDP of 15 W, the Ryzen 5 6600U consumes very little power. The processor supports DDR5 memory with a quad-channel interface, supporting memory speeds up to 4800 MHz and LPDDR5-6400 MHz. To communicate with other components in the machine, the Ryzen 5 6600U uses a PCI-Express Gen 4 connection. The processor features a Radeon 660M integrated graphics solution.
At the heart of the AYN Loki Zero is an AMD Athlon Silver processor featuring 2 CPU cores, 4 threads, support for CPU frequencies up to 2.8 GHz and AMD Radeon Vega 3 graphics with support for frequencies up to 1 GHz. It’s not exactly a speed demon, but it’s the same processor that Anbernic is using for higher-end versions of the Win600 handheld gaming PC, which seems to offer decent performance for at least some PC games as well as for emulating classic consoles including the Nintendo Wii.
But it’s not just the processor that makes the AYN Loki Zero cheaper than other members of the Loki series. It has a lower-resolution display, slower memory (and less of it if you opt for the entry-level configuration), and the base model has slower storage. WiFi, Bluetooth, and USB specs are also less impressive.
In terms of size, shape, and battery capacity, the Loki Zero appears to be similar to the Loki Mini Pro.

AYN Odin Lite vs. Pro vs. Loki vs. Loki Zero: Battery Life
A great battery life backs the impeccable performance, as the Odin Lite/Pro/Loki/Loki Zero handheld device gives you around five to six hours of gameplay. Nonetheless, like any other handheld gaming device, the console’s battery life depends on your use.
Odin Lite: 6600mA
Odin Pro: 6600mA
Loki: 40.5 Wh
Loki Zero: 46.2 Wh
Verdict: Which Should You Buy?
The Odin Lite is the perfect handheld console for people who have never used the Odin gaming devices. Although it is less potent than the Odin Pro and Odin Base, it has better performance than them and features that its counterparts lack.
The Odin Lite & Loki Zero come with a hearty 4 GB of memory, while the Odin Pro & Loki feature an impressive 8 GB (Loki even offers 16GB model).
As for storage space. The default storage on the Odin Lite is 64 GB. Storage on Loki Zero also is 64GB. The Odin Pro starts at 128 GB of storage, but AYN is continuing to offer a 256 GB upgrade option for users interested in getting a fully loaded Odin. Loki also starts at 128 GB of storage, but you can choose 256GB, or 512GB. All Odin configurations also come with a Micro SD card slot, so increased onboard storage may be less of a concern for you depending on your priorities. Built in storage is if you're playing a lot of games from the Google Play store, but is less important if most of your games are going to be emulated off a collection that can be housed on a Micro SD card.
