Brands worth buying usually only make penne, fusilli, and spaghetti, while wheat pasta comes in many shapes and sizes. Tinkyada is refreshing and makes many interesting shapes and sizes of pasta, like elbows and so-called "spirals".
My favorite is the colorful vegetable spirals containing stone-ground brown rice, carrot powder, tomato powder, spinach powder, and water.
Tinkyáda's packaging claims: "Good texture. Not mushy. Al Dente." Good news: They keep their word. This pasta is not as textured as Bionaturea. The fusilli powder here has a smooth, almost oily feel, but it's still pretty good.
The texture is also well balanced. It is firm on the outside, but soft and delicate on the inside. However, it has a slightly smooth texture, which is not suitable for red sauces. This is why Tinkyada works best in pasta primavera. Some vegetables, garlic, and oil will do this brown rice pasta right.
Also, the package says the cook time is 16 minutes, but I would start checking after 10 minutes so it doesn't get too mushy.
