Design

The Xiaomi Mix Fold 2, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 and the Vivo X Fold all feature an inward folding design. This means that all the three phones feature two displays. One is a large tablet-like display that folds inwards and there’s another external display for use in the folded state.

The Galaxy Z Fold 4 comes with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection, a glass rear and it features an Armour frame. There are four colours available: Beige, Phantom Black, Graygreen and Burgundy. It is IPX8 water and dust resistant and it offers a physical fingerprint sensor built into the power button. The Z Fold 4 is also compatible with the S Pen Fold Edition. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 features a pill-shaped camera housing on the rear, punch hole camera on the front and an under-display camera at the top of the main display.

The Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus  too and it opts for a waterdrop hinge, allowing for its slender build. It comes in gold and black colors. There is  a rectangular rear camera housing that spans the width of the device. In addition, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 has a punch hole camera at the top of the external display, as well as the main display and it comes with an under display fingerprint sensor rather than a physical option, but it doesn't have an official IP rating.

The build of the vivo X Fold is a Glass front, eco leatherback, and an aluminum frame. The back of the phone is leather and feels very comfortable to hold. Both the outside and inner display of the vivo X Fold have a punch-hole design. The punch-hole houses the selfie cameras for the smartphone. The rear camera is placed on one half of the phone and when properly turned, can be used as a selfie camera. The device has Black/Grey and Blue color options to choose from. But, the phone is not certified to be IP68 water and dustproof.
Display

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 has a 6.2-inch external display that offers a resolution of 2316 x 904 pixels for a 401ppi and an aspect ratio of 23.1:9. It's a Dynamic AMOLED display and it offers a variable refresh rate between 49Hz and 120Hz. The external display is also an Always On Display. When unfolded, the main display offered is 7.6-inches with a 2176 x 1812 pixel resolution, resulting in a pixel density of 373ppi, and an aspect ratio of 21.6:18. It too is a Dynamic AMOLED display( 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate) and it features Ultra Thin Glass on top, allowing it to bend.

The Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 brings a larger display compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 4. It features an 8.02-inch 1914 x 2160 foldable OLED panel with 120Hz refresh, HDR10+, Dolby Vision on the inside, and a 6.56-inch 1080 x 2520 resolution screen with a 21:9 ratio, 120Hz refresh rate, and HDR10+ support on the outside.

The Vivo X Fold has an 8.03-inch foldable AMOLED display with a 2K resolution, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and the HDR10+ certification, while the external panel is a 6.53-inch AMOLED display with a Full HD+ resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate.

Chipset, Memory, and Storage

The vivo X Fold sports the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. This chipset features an octa-core CPU that has a 1x Cortex-X2 core with a speed clocked at 3.00GHz. The CPU also has 4 efficiency cores to help cool down the temperature of the chipset when under heavy use. The GPU inside the chipset is the Adreno 730. This GPU is very powerful and paired with the octa-core CPU, playing graphics-intensive games becomes very smooth without any lags.  It comes in two storage configurations. It comes with 12 + 256GB and 12 + 512GB of storage.

The Mix Fold 2 and Galaxy Z Fold 4  are powered by the same chipset -  the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip with an octa-core CPU and Adreno 730 GPU which is a better performing chipset than Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset in the vivo X Fold. The two also sport 12GB RAM and the same memory configuration of 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB UFS 3.1.

None of these three phones have space for storage expansion via a microSD card slot. They also  don't  have the 3.5mm jack

Cameras

A 50MP f/1.8 primary camera with OIS, a second 10MP 3x telephoto zoom camera with OIS and a 12MO ultra wide-angle camera with 123 FoV are all included with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4. The camera features of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 are Dual Pixel PDAF, OIS, 3x optical zoom, LED flash, HDR, panorama, gyro-EIS, HDR10+, decode 4K videos, encode 4K videos, etc.

In contrast, the Xiaomi Mix Fold2 has a 50MP f/1.8 primary camera with OIS, an 8MP telephoto lens with a 2x optical zoom, and a 13MP ultra-wide camera. On the front, it has a 20MP selfie camera. Software

The Vivo runs Origin OS Ocean based on Android 12. The software experience  is not great. Some apps don’t open quite well on the foldable screen and multitasking with the foldable screen is not a very good experience.

The Xiaomi Mix Fold 2has MIUI Fold 13 OS, which is based on Android 12. With a few modifications (including multitasking) for its foldable form factor, this is comparable to the OS that powers its smartphones.

Although the software and user experience on the Mix Fold 2 is good, that of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is better since it has a special OS designed for big screens. With OneUI 4.1.1 added on top of the Android 12L OS, it adds tablet-specific features like Samsung Flex, making the experience much more enjoyable and productive.

Battery Life and Charging

These three foldable smartphones still lack large batteries. The vivo X Fold is powered by a 4,600mAh battery with support for a 66W fast charge. You can charge this device from 0 to 100% in about 38 minutes. Other charging features are Fast wireless charging 50W (100% in 50 min) and 10W Reverse wireless charging.

Powering the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 is a 4,500mAh battery and it has support for a 67W fast wired  charge solely. The Galaxy Z Fold4 comes with a 4400mAh battery and support 25W wired, 15W wi-fi, and 4.5W reverse wi-fi charging.

But the battery of the Mix Fold 2 and Galaxy Z Fold4  lasts longer than the battery of the vivo X Fold. This is because they have a chip that is more efficient and this keeps the battery running for a longer time.

Final Verdict

The Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 vs Galaxy Z Fold 4 vs. Vivo X Fold comparison has shown that the vivo X Fold is a good foldable smartphone but the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 and  Samsung Galaxy Fold 4 are better foldable devices. Compared to  Vivo X Fold, both the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 and  Galaxy Z Fold 4 have better chipsets, longer battery use, better user experience.

The difference bewteen  Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 is that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 has extra perks such as wireless charging, STYLUS support (S PEN), and IPX8 water resistance. All these features are not available in the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2. But, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 are more slimmer, can click better selfies, has a slightly bigger battery, faster charging, and a bigger display.
