Editor's review: Which Takis flavor is the best?
#1. Takis Fuego
(Get Up To 2% Cash Back with CVS)
Takis is a brand of snack that was created in Mexico. They are moderately thick tortilla chips rolled into small cylinders, similar to mini taquitos.
The most popular and well-known of Takis is its "Fuego" flavor (Hot Chili Pepper & Lemon), which is the spiciest of all flavors in a bright purple bag.
In this case, we're happy to leave the word to Takis: "As if you were eating fire flames, as if you were burning your own tongue, would you eat fire?"
Takis Fuego are very spicy Mexican chips that have been trending online for the "Takis Challenge" for years.
It is said to be between 30,000-50,000 units on the Scoville scale, which is as hot as cayenne and tabasco peppers.
The Takis brand advertising says it all: "Don't try our flavors as they are addictive (and dangerously) delicious!"
Takis Fuego chips are deep red in color, and are covered in rich spices. This product may not be the hottest snack ever, but it did make me sweat around my neck and also made my fingers red from the spicy dust.
We'll admit, the special edition "Hot Chili Pepper & Lime flavored" is for snack lovers who like fiery flavors, such as ourselves.
These are one of the best hot chips we've ever had. We would definitely recommend Takis Fuego to friends or family as the they are so delicious.
Takis, exactly what we expected. When you take your first bite, you'll smell a burst of lime flavor, followed by a quick bite of fried corn.
Once the corny smell is gone, the Fuego Takis create an overwhelming amount of heat, which fortunately subsides after a few seconds.
You can feel the chili on the way down, though. There's a noticeable tingling in your gut as the oil in the fried corn and chili mixes together.
For the just mentioned sourness of lime , not the strongest, it won't wrinkle your mouth like lime-flavored Tostitos. Fuego is Takis' flagship product, and it strikes the perfect balance between spiciness and flavor, and overall just the right amount of "stimulus."
All we have to say is, yes, these things taste great. But don't overlook their hearty crunch, like something coming out of a deep fryer.
These crunchiness also make them stand out, although there are also Taki-flavored Dinamitas from rival brand Doritos on the market.
But the biggest difference between Takis and Dinamita is their texture: Takis have thicker flakes and flaky layers, which make for a particularly satisfying crunch. Dinamita chips are slightly thinner and more likely to break rather than crunch.
All in all, Fuego is our favourite Takis, full of spiciness and crunch with the addition of lime. If you're shopping for any flavor of Takis, get this one.
#2. Takis Blue Heat
(Get Up To 2% Cash Back with CVS)
"Get ready for a sensory experience so intense it may be our most extreme flavor yet" declares Takis.
It was really spicy, just like the legend. The strong and spicy taste has made it a huge hit for those who want a challenge, even long-time fans.
When you taste them, the first bite is spicy, then it gets spicier and hotter in the aftertaste. But overall, it's not as spicy as Fuego, and it doesn't have the lime flavor that Fuego contains. Therefore, it is suitable for pure spicy eaters.
Anyway, apart from the good taste, what is its biggest feature?
We were impressed with some of the Takis' strong colors, especially Fuego's strong reds, but here you can find strong blues—an appealing color you won't see in other snacks.
These colors are powdered seasonings that will quickly turn your fingertips, lips and tongue blue.
The blue tongue certainly doesn't lighten in a short period of time, it may take a whole day to lighten. So we suggest you grab a bag to share with your friends. This way everyone will not be embarrassed and will enjoy the awesome taste and intensity.
Here's a new accolade:
The "Product of the Year 2024" survey, conducted in the United States, revealed the list of consumers' favorite brands, where Barcel USA's Takis Blue was chosen as "Best Hot and Spicy Snack.".
Through a survey, approximately 40 thousand consumers across the United States choose the brands that appear in this list. The winners are creditors of the Voted Product Of The Year red label, which is globally recognized for certifying products and brands as the best in their different categories, in addition to recognizing innovation in their packaging design, ingredients, and flavor.
#3. Takis Nitro
(Get Up To 4% Cash Back with Walmart)
Takis Nitro is labeled "Extreme", but it ranks third in the spiciness level.
In marketing ads, it is described as an upgrade from a simple "chili lime" to a "habanero lime".
Anyone who has ever cut a habanero will tell you that these things should be handled with latex gloves.
But it's more of an advertising gimmick than an actual experience.
There are three actual flavors of Takis Nitro: Havana, Lime, and Cucumber. The result is an intense mix of "wow" after each crunchy bite.
It is spicy, but not as spicy as Fuego. It's sour, even more sour than Fuego.
So here's the conclusion after the experience: even though it says EXTREME spice, it actually tastes barely spicy, mostly lime, and will really wrinkle your mouth.
It has a slightly smoky and sweet finish at the end and is more suitable for those who don't need the hot Takis flavors of Fuego and Blue Heat.
#4. Takis Xplosion
(Get Up To $3.50 Cash Back with Gopuff)
Ka-Boom! Take a bite of Takis Xplosion Chips and you’ll feel it. The taste of cheese hits you like Bam! Then the flavor of chili pepper comes on like Pow! This detonation of intensity makes Xplosion rolled tortilla chips a blast to eat — literally. Rated “Very Hot,” these are like a flavor volcano.
But don't worry, it can't match Fuego's spiciness. The heat hit the hardest in the aftertaste, and although it wasn't super-hot, it was reasonably hot, and the heat lingered for a long while.
And instead of the lime flavor, it contains a tangy cheese flavor, so that Cheetos lovers might find a favorite snack in the Takis brand. Each crunchy piece of rolled tortilla is fully loaded with a surge of cheesy, zesty, and irresistible nacho flavour.
Don't miss it if you like salty snacks. They have so many seasonings that you will definitely recommend them to anyone who likes something full of flavour.
#5. Takis® Nacho Xplosion
(Get Up To $0 Cash Back with Amazon)
Zesty nacho and cheese flavours upgrade these corn chips for a tastebud-tingling snack at home or on the go.
Hot on the TAKIS® Heat Meter-The nacho cheese chips are an intense snack food—eat if you dare.
But thanks to the slightly less heat in the Takis Nacho Xplosion, the cheese flavor is brighter and more intense.
#6. Takis Crunchy Fajitas
(Get Up To 5% Cash Back with eBay)
Takis Crunchy Fajita Chips have all the spicy intensity of this Tex-Mex dish. Open a bag and watch the fiesta erupt.
Takis Crunchy Fajita has a deep orange dressing that looks hot and spicy, although not as intimidating as the bright red Takis Fuego.
In fact, this spice mix will give you the taste of cheese, cumin, cayenne, and paprika, followed by a mild spiciness.
Rated "Hot," Crunchy Fajita rolled tortilla chips are not for the bland. They will turn your salsa into a slam dance, so only the intense need apply.
These remind us a little of Doritos, but with a nice little kick them. Lots of crunch, tons of flavor, and just the right amount of spice, all make them quickly become the best side dishes for me and my friends when watching movies at home. A bag won't last long at this time.
They're also a delicious snack on the go, with a great spicy taste that isn't too intense and blends with the delicious natural salsa that coats the tortilla chips.
#7. Takis Guacamole
(Get Up To 5% Cash Back with eBay)
Guacamole also pronounced Huakamole or Takis HuaKamoles are mini taquitos shaped 1.5" long snacks very crunchy and spicy guacamole and jalapeno taste.
Upon opening Takis Guacamole a jalapeno-like smell leaps from the bag. The aroma is carried over into the flavor as only a non-spicy hint. The creamy guacamole then takes over and is finished out by a powerful salty aftertaste. The crunch is nice and the overall presentation tastes as if you rolled up a really salty Doritos and dipped it into guacamole, although this version is far less messy.
But don't let the guacamole flavor fool you, they still carry a hint of lime and smoky flavor. Due to the lower spiciness, people who like spicy food tend to give it up, even thinking they taste like tomato.
#8. Takis Wild
(Get Up To 15% Cash Back with Sam's Club)
This is a milder version of Takis in the exciting Buffalo Ranch flavor. It's perfect for people who don't like or can't eat the original ones. If you like spicy, then you will be disappointed with these.
Aside from the missing spiciness, it's coated with less seasoning. The result is a light taste, not a strong one.
Most people don't like the bag, but the heat is fairly strong and will stay around quite a while in the lingering aftertaste.

Overall, Takis are generally very salty, spicy, and very acidic. According to a YouTube video of people tasting a few flavors of Takis, they deemed the Fuego flavor to be the best. This flavor has heat and spiciness to it, but the heat was ultimately dulled by the tangy flavor that comes from the sour lime flavor.
How do you make Takis less spicy?
Be sure to eat some dairy, like milk or coconut milk, or even a few cubes of yogurt to help break down the spiciness and keep your mouth cool when eating spicy food. Many milk-based products contain a protein called casein, which can help break down these capsaicinoids.
