The Corsair K65 Mini, Razer Huntsman Mini, and HyperX Alloy Origins 60 are the three most popular 60% gaming keyboards on the market. Do you know what's the difference between them? Corsair K65 Mini, Razer Huntsman Mini and HyperX Alloy Origins 60 Review

| #1  Corsair K65 RGB MINI 60% Cherry MX Speed Switches Mechanical Gaming Keyboard

Google Users Rating: 4.4/5

The Corsair K65 RGB Mini is a well-built, great-looking 60% compact keyboard that is just 11.6 inches wide and 4.14 inches deep. It comes with a range of linear switch options: Cherry’s MX Silent Red, MX Speed Silver, or MX RGB Red. One of the K65 RGB Mini’s standout features is the Corsair Axon Hyper-Processing Technology that was introduced in October 2020 which offers up to an 8,000 Hz polling rate and key scanning at a rate of 4,000 Hz. The Cherry MX Speed switches and high polling rate means the K65 Mini is hyper-responsive. Corsair makes K65 RGB Min stand out a little more by including an extra Esc keycap with the Corsair logo on it and a fancy custom spacebar. You also get a detachable USB-C cable, which is fast becoming the standard connector for mechanical keyboards.

In addition, the K65 RGB Mini offers a bevy of customization features via Corsair’s iCue software. Most settings can be saved directly to the keyboard, and the 8MB of onboard storage has capacity for between 50 and 200 profiles. RGB lighting categories perform as expected. The K65 RGB Mini offers per-key RGB backlighting that you can modify with iCue’s built-in lighting effects. Each of those effects offers at least some level of customization as well, including the ability to control how bright they are, what colors they include, what areas of the keyboard they affect, and how they behave.  Give yourself the time to get accustomed to the smaller layout, and the K65 Mini will be a wonderful companion for your gaming setup.

| #2  Razer Huntsman Mini 60% Wired Optical Clicky Switch Gaming Keyboard

Google Users Rating: 4.6/5

The Razer Huntsman Mini is an exceptional gaming keyboard with a compact form factor that measures just 17 inches and weighs a measly two pounds . It features a standard layout with double-shot shine-through PBT keycaps. The PBT keycaps provided superior friction that prevented slipping, even during times of clamminess. The Razer Huntsman Mini is available in either black or white with two different switch options. The Razer Optical switches, designed for speed and fast reaction, are available in the red linear option or the purple clicky option.  Unlike traditional Cherry MX switches, optical switches use light beams rather than physical contact to signal a keypress. The response time on optical switches is much faster than mechanical switches due to shorter actuation distances.

In addition, the Huntsman Mini has enough onboard memory to store a generous 5 profiles, launchable by holding the Fn and menu key. Razer’s Synapse 3 software lets you toggle through 11 pre-made RGB effects, including one that reacts to audio coming from your PC. You can also use the software to set per-key lighting effects, match lighting with other products using Razer’s Chroma RGB lighting and make profiles launch with linked games. You don’t have to download Synapse to tweak the Huntsman Mini. The side-printed functions include the ability to toggle through pre-set RGB effects and brightness, (including off), plus on-the-fly macro recording and Game Mode activation. All in all, for gamers who are focused on speed, reaction time, and the best performance, the Razer Huntsman mini is the one to pick.

PROSCONS
Small, sturdy designCan't remap essential key combos
Razer optical switchesA little pricey versus some 60 percent alternatives

Textured, shine-free PBT keycaps
Good software customization options with Synapse
5 onboard memory profiles

Removable USB-C cable

| #3  HyperX Alloy Origins 60% Wired Mechanical Linear Red Switch Gaming Keyboard

Google Users Rating: 4.7/5

The HyperX Alloy Origins 60 is a supremely portable 60% form factor keyboard. About 11.6 x 4 x 1.3 inches dimensions and 1.6-pound (738g) weight combined with the Alloy Origins 60’s aluminum construction, detachable cable and collapsible feet make the keyboard easy to travel with. The stock double shot PBT keycaps have secondary functions printed on them so you can quickly locate additional functionality.  It offers three different angles (default, slightly propped up, and fully propped) at which the keyboard can rest. It also ships with a standard spacebar flaunting the HyperX logo. The HyperX Alloy Origins uses HyperX Red linear switches which feel very light and responsive, and they require less force to actuate than other linear switches do. The click latency is incredibly low, so it should feel very responsive while gaming.

The HyperX Alloy Origins 60 has full RGB backlighting with an extremely customizable brightness level, multiple setups can be created to give each of your different gaming experiences their own unique vibe. HyperX uses its own NGENUITY software as an easy way to customize the Alloy Origins 60. You can change the keyboard’s variety of hypnotic RGB lighting effects (breathing, confetti, swipe, solid, twilight, sun, etc), remap keys, and program different macros. But the Alloy Origins 60’s onboard memory can fit up to three profiles. This isn’t much compared to Corsair’s 50 onboard profiles. Anyway, the HyperX Alloy Origins 60 is a great choice for gamers who are looking for budget gaming keyboards that offer some of the best features in terms of lighting and mechanical switches.

PROSCONS
Petite, unique designRed switches only
