Six Flags Great Adventure Thrilling Rides & Roller Coasters

The theme park's comprehensive roller-coaster collection includes some of the steepest, tallest, and fastest heart-pounding rides around.  I highly recommend the following roller coasters & thrilling rides.

El Torro

Opened in 2006, El Toro featured the steepest drop of any wooden roller coaster in the world at the time - an intimidating 76 degrees. This Intamin Wooden Coaster offers specs that look like a steel mega coaster: a 188-foot lift hill, 176-foot initial drop and a top speed of 70 mph.

Kingda Ka

Kingda Ka opened in 2005, becoming the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the world (it remains the tallest). It uses a hydraluic engine to launch trains up to a top speed of 128 miles per hour in just 3.5 seconds, with the track topping out at 456 feet.

Nitro

This megacoaster features a massive 230-foot first drop that is followed by seven camelbacks, each producing plenty of joyful airtime (negative G-forces). The height of the seven camelbacks start at 189-feet and become progressively smaller as Nitro flies along the out and back layout at speeds of up to 80 miles-per-hour. The minimum height to ride is 54 inches.

Batman: The Ride

Batman: The Ride is a steel inverted coaster manufactured by Bolliger & Mabillard, identical to those found at a number of other Six Flags parks. It features a number of inversions, including two 360-degree loops, a zero-g roll and a corkscrew. The minimum height to ride is 54 inches.

Bizarro

Bizarro is the world's frist floorless roller coaster. Bizarro features seven inversions, including a vertical loop, awe-inspiring cobra roll, dive loop, interlocking corkscrews, and a much talked about 360-degree, zero-G, heartline roll. The minimum height to ride is 54 inches.

Superman: Ultimate Flight

Superman: Ultimate Flight is a basic B&M Flying coaster, with a pretzel loop, several swooping turns, and an inline twist. Riders on this coaster "fly", head-first through highly-banked curves, spirals, and a jaw-dropping, pretzel-shaped, inverted loop at 51 miles-per-hour. The minimum height to ride is 54 inches.

The Joker

The Joker is a roller coaster with a 54-foot drop and top speed of 38 mph. After heading straight up a 12-story, 90-degree hill, this 4-D, free-fly coaster wreaks havoc as you flip head-over-heels along the weightless journey.

Zumanjaro: Drop of Doom

Zumanjaro Drop of Doom is a drop ride.  It will lift riders to some 415 feet in the air, before sending them plummeting back towards the ground below at 90 miles per hour. Three separate drop rides will be installed, each capable of holding up to 8 riders at a time. To increase capacity, the gondolas will be blasted to the top of the tower in just 30 seconds.

Dare Devil Dive

Dare Devil Dive is another kind of thrill in the sky. You’ll stare straight down as you are hoisted up by a slim cable, until you’re so high you’ll only hear the wind as you dangle 15+ stories in the air. There’s no turning back now—the only way to get down is to fall. In a split second you are released and plummeting back towards the earth in a state of total free fall. You can plan on hurtling toward the ground as fast as 60 mph.

Wonder Woman Lasso of Truth

Wonder Woman Lasso of Truth is a swing ride ,opening Summer 2019. It is one of the world’s tallest pendulum rides, stands 17 stories high and riders, who sit around the edge of a giant spinning disc, reach speeds of up to 75mph as they travel back and forth. The pendulum goes higher and higher till it reaches above the horizontal.

Of course, Six Flags Great Adventure also has a relatively good selection of rides and activities for your children. Safari Kids, Looney Tunes Seaport and Bugs Bunny National Park are the main areas for tykes to enjoy rides just their size. Favorites include Daffy Deep Diver, Bugs Bunny Camp Carousel, Jumpin' Joey, Road Runner Railway and Bugaboo.

Safari Off-Road Adventure

Boasting 1,200 animals from six continents including elephants, rhinos, tigers, giraffes and lions, Safari Off Road Adventure takes explorers on an exhilarating, interactive animal adventure.

And Wild Safari's 4.5-mile drive-through park takes you past zebras, baboons, giraffes, hippos, and more, all seen from the safety and comfort of your car.

Hurricane Harbor Water Park

Hurricane Harbor features waterslides like King Cobra, where riders exit the mouth of a snake; play areas like Discovery Bay; and Blue Lagoon, a 696,000-gallon wave pool that rivals the Atlantic Ocean. But admission to Hurricane Harbor is not included with admission to Six Flags Great Adventure.
