Comparison list of the best chocolate candies
Snickers vs. Twix vs. Kit Kat vs. PayDay Bars: Are they different? Let’s find out which delicious treat is perfect for you and your family or friends!
Here is my top 4 ranking of favorite chocolate bars:
Snickers - Because of the bright flavors and rich textures: chocolate is sweet and smooth, while peanut butter is salty and crunchy.
Kit Kat - Because Milky Way bars are the perfect combination of decadent chocolate, creamy stretchy caramel and fluffy nougat. I love its sweet, malty flavor and tangy, rich aroma.
Twix chocolate bar - Because I like its crispy heart, and the slight crunch makes me feel like eating sweets is a ritual. And the thick caramel makes me feel like eating crispy cookies is not too dry.
PAYDAY - Because this light, airy chocolate nougat bar isn’t exactly my first choice. The texture inside tasted a little too milky and the aftertaste was incredibly sweet. And its bittersweet coating hardly satisfies my appetite. The flavors were layered, not well blended, and tasted very monotonous.
The origin of these chocolate candies
#1. Snickers
Snickers is a brand of chocolate bar consisting of nougat topped with caramel and peanuts, all encased in milk chocolate.
The bars are made by the American company Mars Inc. The annual global sales of Snickers is over $380 million, and it is widely considered the bestselling candy bar in the world.
Snickers was introduced by Mars in 1930 and named after the Mars family's favorite horse. Initially marketed as "Marathon" in the UK and Ireland, its name was changed to Snickers in 1990 to align with the global brand, differentiating it from an unrelated US product also named Marathon.
Snickers has expanded its product line to include variations such as mini, dark chocolate, white chocolate, ice cream bars, and several nut, flavor, and protein-enhanced versions.
Ingredients have evolved from its original formulation to adapt to changing consumer preferences and nutritional guidelines.
Despite fluctuations in bar size and controversies around health and advertising, Snickers remains a prominent snack worldwide, sponsoring significant sporting events and introducing notable marketing campaigns.
#2. PAYDAY
PayDay is a brand of a candy bar first introduced in 1932 by the Hollywood Candy Company.
The original PayDay candy bar consists of salted peanuts rolled over a nougat-like sweet caramel center.
Since 1996, classic PayDay candy bars without chocolate have been continually produced by The Hershey Company.
In 2020, Hershey's released a "Chocolatey PayDay bar" as a permanent part of the PayDay product line; it is identical to the regular bar, but covered by a layer of chocolate.
#3. Twix
Twix is a caramel shortbread chocolate bar made by Mars, Inc., consisting of a biscuit applied with other confectionery toppings and coatings (most frequently caramel and milk chocolate). Twix are packaged with one (mini and snack sizes), two or four bars (king size) in a wrapper.
The product was first produced in the United Kingdom in 1967, and it was introduced in the United States in 1979. The name is a portmanteau of "twin sticks". Twix was called Raider in mainland Europe for many years before its name was changed in 1991 (2000 in Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden and Turkey) to match the international brand name. A Raider retro edition was temporarily sold in Germany in 2009, in the Netherlands and Belgium in 2015, and Switzerland in late 2023.
Twix bars for the North American market are made in Cleveland, Tennessee, along with M&M's. For global markets like Europe and Africa are produced in Veghel, the Netherlands alongside Mars bars and other Mars, Incorporated chocolates.
#4. Kit Kat
Kit Kat (stylised as KitKat in various countries) is a chocolate-covered wafer bar confection created by Rowntree's of York, United Kingdom. It is produced globally by Nestlé (which acquired Rowntree's in 1988), except in the United States, where it is made under licence by the H. B. Reese Candy Company, a division of the Hershey Company (an agreement Rowntree's first made with Hershey in 1970).
The standard bars consist of two or four pieces composed of three layers of wafer, separated and covered by an outer layer of chocolate. Each finger can be snapped from the bar separately. There are many flavours of Kit Kat, including milk, white, and dark chocolate.
The original four-finger version of the bar was developed after a worker at Rowntree's York factory put a suggestion in the recommendation box for "a chocolate bar that a man could take to work in his pack up". It was launched in September 1935 in the UK as Rowntree's Chocolate Crisp, and the later two-finger version was launched in 1936. It was renamed Kit Kat Chocolate Crisp in 1937, and just Kit Kat after World War II.[4]
Since making its first television appearance in a UK advertisement in 1958, the slogan for the Kit Kat in the UK and elsewhere has been "Have a break... have a Kit Kat".[4][5][6] Since 1986 in the U.S., the jingle used in television advertisements has been "Gimme a break, Gimme a break, Break me off a piece of that Kit Kat bar!"

When you hear a rumble in your tummy, reach for the crunchy peanuts, chewy caramel, fluffy nougat, and sweet milk chocolate of a Snickers Bar.... Snickers really satisfies!
One of the best-known and most familiar candy bars in the US, Snickers, are still sold everywhere, from movie theaters to grocery stores, and are one of the most familiar products made by the Mars company.
Snickers were introduced in 1930. The candy was named after the Mars family’s favorite horse at the time.
When Snickers was first sold, it caused a lot of controversy for the price that it was sold for.
At the time, most candies sold for 5 cents. Snickers were offered at 20 cents apiece, which was held to be a ridiculously high price.
While Snickers certainly is a satisfying snack, you have to commend their clever marketing techniques and advertising campaigns as well, which undeniably plays a role in this candy bar's popularity.
Snickers were named the official snack of the 1984 Olympics after Mars paid $5 million to secure that status for the candy treat. This launched new attention for the candy and helped to make it an international snack.
You aren't you when you're hungry. That's why there's SNICKERS Full Size Chocolate Bars.
You can also pass them out as Halloween candy. Stock the office pantry for a tasty afternoon treat, or put SNICKERS Candy in gift baskets.
#2. Kit Kat, Chocolate Candy Bar
($1.24 FROM Walmart - Get Up To 3% Cash Back)
~54% sugar by weight for a 42g bar of Kit Kat.
Taste: 4
Texture: 4
Flavor: 4
Introduced in August 29 in 1935 by Rowntree’s as a confectionery business based in York, United Kingdom, Kit Kat, now owned by Nestlé, is one of the world’s leading chocolate brands.
It is said to have been inspired by an entry in Rowntree's suggestion box; an employee at the company thought that Rowntree's should make "a chocolate bar that a man can take with him to work."
Rowntree’s tried to make a chocolate bar that would be more affordable for a working man, and they used wafer to fill the product and keep the price below that of a solid chocolate bar.
Three crispy wafers are layered on top of each other, then smothered in a creamy milk chocolate. Each piece is ever so satisfying to break in half… and even more satisfying to crunch right into!
Today, Kit Kat is one of the most globally recognised chocolate brands. With its perfect balance of delicious chocolate and crispy wafer, it is the ideal treat.
Combined with the simple encouragement to 'Have a break, have a Kit Kat', the chocolate has never been more relevant than in today's hectic world.
This is so meta. The creamy filling between the crispy wafers of the classic chocolate bar isn't just plain chocolate. A BBC documentary revealed that the inside layers of the bar are actually made of ... wait for it .. .ground-up Kit Kats!
Ready for a classic everyone hopes to find in the candy dish? Whether you gift some to friends, pass them out in the office or hold onto them for snacking moments, you can expect a delicious treat in the perfect on-the-go size.
#3. Twix
($1.24 FROM Walmart - Get Up To 3% Cash Back)
~48% sugar by weight for a 90g bar of Twix.
Taste: 4.5
Texture: 3.5
Flavor: 4

With both a left and a right bar, they're perfect for sharing - but we won't snitch if you eat them both.
The product was first created by Mars Limited in the UK in 1967 at the company’s factory in Slough which is also where the current Mars Bar was invented by Forrest Mars Sr. in the 1930s.
Twix was originally called "Raider" and existed in Europe until 1991, when it was renamed.
That's because the candy bar was launched in the United States in 1979, and its brand was Twix Cookie Bar.
In the US, the chocolate bar used the slogan “Chocolate, Caramel, and a Surprising Cookie Crunch”.
Back then, this 70s candy had a packaging of a gold wrapper with orange text. It ads always included the chocolate bar slit in two, showing the soft caramel and the chewiness of the bar.
The name is a portmanteau of "twin sticks". The United States never used the name "Raider" and Twix has always stuck. The biggest highlight that made the candy so popular was the two Twix bars as opposed to one.
