Samsung
Samsung from South Korea is the de facto market leader in the world's TV field, far ahead of competitors such as LG and Sony in terms of overall sales. This is partly due to the size of the company (Samsung is ranked 15th in the 2020 Fortune 500, becoming the second most valuable electronics company after Apple), but mainly because Samsung has made Excellent TV for accessibility.

LG
Another South Korean company, LG, may not be as big as the tried-and-tested Samsung TV, but because of its OLED TV display technology, it has little competition for top image performance.
From the perspective of science and technology, LG's research and development is more cutting-edge, and it belongs to the high-end of the heavyweight brands!

TCL
Although TCL is not currently a heavyweight brand, this brand is on the rise and is moving towards the "heavyweight" ranks in just a few years.
Five years ago, TCL was only the focus of experienced LED TV critics. Today, it is the fastest-growing brand, offering 4K UHD and HDR-enabled models at ridiculously low prices.
Even in the United States, this advanced TV brand from China has won a household name.

Comparison of picture quality
Brand | Calling card |
Samsung | QLED |
LG | OLED |
Sony | Cognitive Processor XR chip |
TCL | Value mini-LED |
Samsung
Samsung is known for their QLED TVs that have good upscaling technology, making lower resolution content look like native 4K images. Samsung offers regular updates to their high-end technology, keeping everything running smoothly on an ongoing basis.
LG
LG is a trailblazer when it comes to appliances but when it comes to TV, it has been dubbed as the OLED leader but at a considerable price.
LG TVs feature an impressive OLED lineup with many different sizes and included features. In general, these TVs have a fast response time with low input lag for easy use.
Building on the success of the OLED lineup, LG will soon use “OLED evo” technology which will allow for better brightness, more clarity, and better audio.
Sony
This year, Sony’s sets will allow for even better brightness and better resolution with “cognitive” processing, which algorithmically enhances different portions into focus.
Sony offers many styles of TVs, but our pros recommend both their 4K and OLED TVs, as they have a good quality design. The picture has good color accuracy and motion handling in our evaluations.
Sony also offers good upscaling technology to display low resolution content clearer.
TCL
TCL is the most affordable brand in our round-up with many TVs available under $500, including models for just $165.
This year, TCL will be expanding to include next gen mini-LEDs in its sets for better backlighting (“OD Zero”). We’re also already big fans of the 6 Series at the Institute, and love that in 2024 they will be upgraded to 8K LEDs for four times the resolution.
QLED vs. OLED
For the high-end TV market, many buyers will find it confusing. The best TVs come with a lot of technical sound features—HDR, Ultra HD 4K, 120Hz, and HDMI 2.1—floating by stable, familiar brands competing for your dollar.
The two largest, Samsung and LG, use similar-sounding terms to describe their more expensive models, but Samsung’s QLED and LG’s OLED are as different as day and night.
In the past few years, Samsung, the world's most popular TV manufacturer, has been labeling its TVs with the "QLED" label. Its 2021 QLED lineup is huge, with 4K and 8K resolution Neo QLED models, frame art TVs, Serif and Sero rotating TVs all with ubiquitous Q. At the same time, LG's 2024 OLED TV includes six series, from the relatively affordable A1 to a model that is rolled up like a poster and is worth US$100,000.
The competition between OLED and QLED surpassed Samsung and LG. TCL also named its best TV brand "QLED", and brands other than LG also sell OLED TVs, namely Sony and Vizio.
So which is better? In our side-by-side reviews of image quality, OLED beats QLED every time. Even the new TV products in 2024,
When we compare the best 2021 LG OLED TV (LG G1 series) with the best 2024 Samsung QLED TV (QN90A series), we find that Samsung is closer to OLED image quality than ever before, but LG OLED still wins. If we compare the TCL 8K QLED TV with another LG OLED TV C1 series, we find that the OLED TV wins again.
So the best image quality comes from the OLED panel!
Winner: LG
Comparison of operating system
Brand | operating system |
Samsung | Tizen/Eden 2.0 |
LG | WebOS |
Sony | Android TV/Google TV |
TCL | Roku and Google TV |
Samsung (Tizen)
Despite being derived from the Tizen OS originally designed for smartphones, that latest version of Samsung’s Eden smart TV platform is now impressively honed for TV use.
Its home page, for starters, only takes over the bottom quarter of the screen, leaving you free to keep watching TV while you browse the masses of content its menus contain.
Taking a leaf out of the Apple TV playbook, Eden adopts a two-tier menu approach. Along the bottom you get an easily customizable row of icons showing the different content sources - Netflix, Amazon, YouTube etc. - installed on your set.
LG (webOS)
LG's webOS platform is the first truly and exhaustively designed and tested smart TV system for TVs rather than other types of smart devices. Therefore, over the years, it has won praise almost every quarter. However, the latest version of webOS marks a major difference from the previous-although the direction of travel may eventually prove to be correct, the change is not completely successful now.
Once you call up the new home screen, the difference will begin, it now occupies the entire screen, not just a neat row of app icons superimposed on the bottom edge of the picture. This means that you can no longer watch TV while browsing the smart menu, and may make users who are not familiar with the smart interface feel more overwhelmed.
Sony (Google TV)
Sony switched to Google’s Android TV platform in 2015 because of its smart features-at least the previous generations of Android TV were honestly terrible. However, today, Android TV has been greatly improved. Especially on TVs, such as the latest Sony models, get the latest evolution of Google TV.
For example, one of the biggest problems in Android TV history is stability. Errors and crashes are commonplace-although you may endure these things on your computer, you really don't want to find them happening on something passive like a TV.
The apparently heavy processing requirements associated with running Android TV also result in slow menu response times, especially on Sony’s relatively affordable TVs.
TCL (Android TV/Roku TV)
TCL went from being a trivial flash point in the U.S. and even the international TV market to an important player almost overnight, thanks to the introduction of a large number of models, from the high-quality mini LED group at one end to the extremely affordable LCD smart other TV on the side.
Like more and more brands, TCL has deployed two different third-party smart platforms within its scope. Android TV occupies a place in high-end models such as the Mini LED C825K series, and Roku now provides intelligence for TCL’s affordable but complete RP620K LCD TV.
The Roku TV provided by TCL provides a great and familiar smart TV interface with easy access to top streaming media platforms.
Winner: Samsung Or LG

You know you want the best TV, but finding the right model for your family and budget is not always easy. If you want to choose a TV with high cost performance, please consider TCL. If you want a TV with good picture quality, please consider LG. If you want a TV with good picture quality but less expensive, please consider Samsung. If you want For a TV with excellent acoustics, please consider Sony!
