Bangtan Boys is a seven-member outfit that creates addictive audiovisual spectacles with hip-hop influences and dance-oriented pop music. BTS consists of seven members: Jungkook, V, Jimin, JHope, Suga, Jin and the group’s leader Rap Monster.
After their debut in June of 2013 with the single "No More Dream," Bangtan Boys released a number of EPs and a debut album that won them fans from all over the globe. BTS have proven themselves to be a fierce and feisty group, and they have already garnered a number of major awards from Korean tastemaking institutions, such as the MelOn Music Awards in 2013, the Golden Disk Awards in 2014 and 2015, the Seoul Music Awards in 2014 and 2015 and the Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards in 2014 and 2015.
The first few members of BTS were recruited through "Hit It" auditions held by Big Hit Entertainment in 2010 and 2011. BTS' first single, "2 Cool 4 Skool," was released in June 2013. In September of that year, the group released their first EP, O!Rul8,2? The second EP, Skool Luv Affair, was released February of the following year.
BTS' first big hit in the United States was the EP Skool Luv Affair, which rose to No. 3 on the Top World Albums chart in 2014. That same year, Dark & Wild, Vol. 1 was released in the United States, again claiming the No. 3 Top World Albums spot as well as making it onto the Top Heatseekers chart.
BTS has, of course, enjoyed massive success in its native South Korea. They have scooped up countless awards, including New Artist of the Year at the MelOn Music Awards, the Newcomer and Album Awards at the Golden Disk Awards, the Rookie and Bonsang Awards at the Seoul Music Awards, and New Artist of the Year (Male Group) and World Rookie Award at the Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards.
This seven-member juggernaut would attain an all new high with starring roles in their very own reality show on Mnet, entitled BTS American Hustle Life, in which they meet and work with legendary hip hop artists like Warren G and Coolio during a visit to Los Angeles. Rap Monster and Warren G also collaborated on a track entitled "P.D.D. (Please Don't Die)," with Warren G leading the production.
